New Hunger Games Movie Could Include Katniss Everdeen Cameo, Confirming Big Theory

The next addition to The Hunger Games the franchise will take place more than two decades before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as a tribute, but a great Sunrise at Harvest theory would make a cameo possible. Sunrise at Harvest will tell the story of Haymitch Abernathy, following him into the deadly arena during the 50th Hunger Games tournament. This is one of the deadliest Games in the history of Panem, and Suzanne Collins has suggested a focus on “use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative” (through The Hollywood Reporter).

Needless to say, it appears that the Sunrise at Harvest the book will be another biting political commentary, and its film adaptation will follow suit. Although both versions of the story place a large focus on Haymitch, we’ll probably see other familiar faces from previous Hunger Games films. Katniss’ appearance seems like a stretch, as she still won’t be born during the second Quarter Quell timeline. However, there is still a way to briefly include her in the upcoming prequel.

A Big Sunrise in Harvest Theory Opens the Door for Katniss Everdeen Cameo

This Theory Suggests We’ll See Future Harvests of The Hunger Games

It’s still not clear what the title is Sunrise at Harvest refers, but a brilliant Hunger Games theory offers a possible explanation. He posits that Haymitch’s narrative could end with him becoming increasingly disillusioned. through Panem and the Games while watching the harvest year after year (via TikTok). This would demonstrate why Haymitch begins the original series completely detached from the District 12 tributes, and would show how his cynicism evolves after his own Hunger Games. If done as a montage, it would be a powerful way to tie your story into future tournaments.

It would also allow Katniss Everdeen to appear at the end of Sunrise at Harvest, while the 74th and 75th Hunger Games mark the final harvests that Haymitch witnesses. They are also the ones who truly change him, convincing him that there is hope for District 12 to win – and Panem to change – after all. Therefore, if this Sunrise at Harvest title theory proves correct, Katniss and Peeta’s harvest needs to be included. In fact, it would be the perfect ending to the Hunger Games prequel, offering hope after what is sure to be a devastating story.

Katniss and Peeta’s appearance is the perfect way to end the new Hunger Games movie

Will directly connect the Haymitch prequel to the original story

An appearance from Katniss and Peeta is the perfect way to end Sunrise at Harvest, as it will allow Haymitch’s narrative to go out on a high note – despite the fact that he faces tragedy shortly after the 50th Hunger Games. Haymitch’s story promises to be moving throughout most of his season, and that extends beyond his time in the arena. We know from previous Hunger Games books that Snow also kills Haymitch’s loved ones after he wins the Games, and the deaths of his mother, brother, and girlfriend will likely be included in the Sunrise at harvest.

All of this will serve to show how Haymitch becomes hopeless over time, but ending up Sunrise at Harvest with Katniss and Peeta will remind us that he found that hope again.

All of this will serve to show how Haymitch becomes hopeless over time, but ending up Sunrise at Harvest with Katniss and Peeta will remind us that he found that hope again. It will also directly connect 2025 Hunger Games prequel and its film adaptation of the original story. Given the impact that Haymitch’s victory and survival had on the first series, it seems appropriate to highlight this connection. It’s also a great way to make the franchise feel complete, especially if The Hunger Games: Harvest Sunrise can work in a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes reference too.
