New Andor Season 2 Filming Hints Star Wars Is Finally Answering the Mystery of New Hope for a 47-Year-Old

New footage from Andor the second season seems to suggest that a big mystery of A New Hope will finally be answered, almost 50 years later. Andor season one set up the next installment of the TV show to focus on the early days of the Rebel Alliance, revealing how Cassian Andor managed to not only join the cause, but also dedicate himself completely to it. This exploration of the Rebel Alliance’s earliest roots will also cover the iconic base of Yavin 4, the moon that was first seen in A New Hopeas shown in Andor filming of season 2.

The Rebellion’s base on Yavin 4 was absolutely perfect for their organization for several reasons. For starters, it was completely remote, allowing the Alliance to easily hide in its depths. It had also already built its Massassi Temples, which were conveniently large enough to be converted into hangars for the Alliance fleet. There seemed to be no shortage of benefits to creating a rebel base on this planet, making it nothing short of the perfect option for them. What remains a mystery, however, is how they found this world – and Andor season two will likely reveal the answer.

How did the Rebel Alliance find Yavin 4?

This backstory is never explained

When the Rebel Alliance base on Yavin 4 is first shown in Star WarsOf course, there’s no information on how exactly they discovered it – because it wasn’t relevant at the time. As Star Wars The tradition developed over time, however, this mystery remained. The base is seen in Star Wars Rebelsthe animated TV show that covered other aspects of the Rebel Alliance’s origins, but even that story doesn’t explain how Yavin 4 was discovered by those within the Alliance. Andor season two, conveniently, already has the perfect way to do this.

Luthen Rael’s collection proves his talent for history

There is no one better suited to find a planet like this than Luthen Rael himself. The rebel’s alter ego is that of a collector on Coruscant, who hides his true beliefs and motivations – as glimpsed throughout Andor season 1. Despite being a ploy, Luthen’s knowledge is still very real. He knows a lot about the history of the galaxy, especially the artifacts that populate his gallery. After all, he still needs to collect to do his show, and one specific item in his collection seems to suggest that Yavin 4 was definitely on his radar: a Sith holocron.

The history of Yavin 4 reveals that it was once ruled by the Sith Lords, the same ones who ordered the construction of the Massassi Temples. This story would certainly be known to someone like Luthen, who would then be able to find the planet and secure it as a Rebel Alliance stronghold. Luthen’s knowledge would therefore serve another fundamental purpose for the Rebel Alliance.completing the circle of elements of your character. Given the tips Andor season two has already provided details about the story of Yavin 4, this seems like the most likely possibility.
