NCIS Season 22 update confirms a character close to McGee is returning

Someone close to Tim McGee is coming back NCIS season 22, reveals producer Steven D. Binder. It's been an incredible year for MCRT's most veteran member, as he questions where he truly fits in the organization after more than 20 years. Almost everyone on his old team has moved on, including Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who retired in NCIS season 19, but he remains committed to the work. Moving forward, however, McGee's story will be more interesting as he delves deeper into his suspicions regarding Vice Principal Gabriel LaRoche.

As part of this arc, however, Binder reveals TV insider that someone close McGee will return in NCIS season 22 -his wife, Delilah by Margo Harshman. His appearance will be in the episode “Killer Instinct,” which will see the McGees spend time with the LaRoches. Unfortunately, Binder doesn't reveal when exactly said ride would air. In addition to Delilah, some other familiar faces will resurface, such as Carol Wilson and Carla Marino. Read his full quote below:

Delilah [Margo Harshman] will come back. The episode is called “Killer Instinct”, this is the Guess who's coming to dinner episode. So we'll have McGee and Delilah meet LaRoche and his wife in one episode, and that's an episode where Torres will have to go undercover as a killer to try and track down a killer. There are a lot of fun things. There may be a possible connection to Kansas City. We are thinking about the return of Rebecca De Mornay. With a long-running program, we think in longer time frames than we normally could; If we were wondering if we would return, all of these things would happen in the next five episodes, but we're thinking a little more. So, if not this season, then next.

There's also Meredith Eaton returning as Carol Wilson. Kasie [Diona Reasonover] There's a game night group and it's her and a group of fellow forensic scientists, and they're going to be targeted by a killer who has his motives. This will be a Kasie episode. This will be fun. Then we'll meet a bunch of her friends who are really fun to see together. Just imagine three, four forensic scientists together and all the hilarity begins.

How Delilah Could Impact McGee's Overarching Narrative in NCIS Season 22

Delilah is as capable as her husband

Delilah in the NCIS bullpen

While NCIS is not known for her romances, she has managed to maintain a healthy marriage with McGee and Delilah. The duo went through a lot on the show, but despite that, they remain strong in their marriage. Admittedly, the show hasn't really explored their married life in a while, mainly because of everything going on in NCIS season 22, but with McGee's growing suspicion of his boss's boss and growing dissatisfaction at being passed over for a job he actually deserves, seeing Delilah could give viewers a better understanding of his frustrations this season.

Despite its limited appearance in recent years of NCIS, Delilah is also a capable government officialserving in the Department of Defense. Because of this, she knows a thing or two about office politics at agencies like NCIS. McGee and the LaRoches having dinner could be a ploy by Sean Murray's character to learn more about the vice principal. Delilah joining them could offer a fresh pair of eyes as they assess Gabriel's true colors.

Our take on McGee's story so far in NCIS Season 22

McGee is stagnating at MCRT

NCIS Season 22 created McGee's unsolvable problem with his promotion attempt. This exposed a huge problem in his arc considering how stagnant he has been at MCRT for a few years now. Even if McGee were to be promoted to the role of deputy director of NCIS, it would mean big changes for the show, as he won't be able to join Alden Parker and the others in the field.

That said, keeping McGee as a senior field agent seems unfair, as he will long be taking on a larger role at the agency. Overall, it's curious how NCIS plans to resolve this issue and how it would impact the future of the series.
