One of the most unique and healthy student-teacher relationships in the world My Hero Academy universe is the one between Katsuki and Best Jeanist. Although their interactions began as a way for the former Number 4 to teach Bakugo about control and etiquette, they developed into a deeper, unbreakable bond. In the series finale, Katsuki would risk his own life to keep his mentor safe from Shigaraki’s relentless attacks.
This iconic team received a touching tribute created by the manga’s author, Kohei Horikoshi. The incredible illustration uploaded to social media shows Jeanist in his iconic battle stance, with Katsuki praising his mentor while wearing a unique denim suit.
My Hero Academia Best Jeanist and Bakugo have never looked so stylish
Bakugo’s costume was completely reinvented by Horikoshi
The illustration created by Horikoshi depicts the Best Jeanista in front of his student while thanking viewers for receiving a Special Contribution Award. The hero stands as if ready for battle, arms outstretched and prepared to control the threads of his thanks with his powerful Fiber Master Quirk. While Jeanist takes center stage in the image, it’s Bakugo who surprises fans the most, as he wears a brand new suit that pays homage to his mentor.
This new version of Katsuki’s gear, inspired by his outfit during the bloody Final War arc of My Hero Academy manga, appears to be made of denim, like his mentor’s clothes. This is an incredible tribute to the hero who helped him overcome his bad habits and something Katsuki wouldn’t have done for any other teacher. Dynamight is also congratulating Jeanist, exclaiming in awe how impressive the former #4 hero is for receiving this prestigious award.
Horikoshi’s illustration highlights Jeanist’s importance in Bakugo’s life
Hakamada’s teachings helped Katsuki become an incredible hero
In episode 27 of My Hero Academy anime, Bakugo arrives at the Best Jeanist agency to begin his internship. Instead of teaching him how to fight or improving his technique, the blonde revealed that he wanted to rid Katsuki of his violent tendencies and turn him into a model hero. This brief but meaningful time with Hakamada turned out to be vital in Bakugo becoming the admirable hero fans came to know during the manga’s final chapters. Jeanist’s teachings helped the once brash and arrogant student to see the error of his ways and become a better person.
Horikoshi’s remarkable tribute to this duo perfectly sums up this change in Dynamight’s personality. The Bakugo who met Best Jeanist would never celebrate another person’s achievements as his ego wouldn’t allow him to. But the Katsuki depicted in this moving image overcame these behaviors, not only praising his mentor for winning an award, but also donning a costume inspired by Jeanist’s Quirk. With this simple yet inspiring image, Horikoshi was able to celebrate Hakamada’s victory and also expand his relationship with his pupil. It is a clear example of the talent that the creator of this beloved series possesses.
Best Jeanist is without a doubt one of the most beloved characters in the My Hero Academy anime. Horikoshi’s illustration was an incredible way to celebrate his accomplishments while also giving fans another incredible piece of art to enjoy. Including Bakugo in a new denim outfit was just the icing on the cake for this incredible gift to the community.
In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child he always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia revolves around Deku and a class of heroes in training at UA. This school turns young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off against dastardly supervillains.
