Moana 2 is approaching a major domestic milestone. Disney's new animated film is the sequel to the 2016 smash hit and follows the title character (Auli'i Cravalho) reuniting with demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) for a new adventure. THE Moana 2 The release began the day before Thanksgiving in the U.S., but continued to thrive through the Christmas holiday weekend, holding the No. 1 position for three consecutive weeks and maintaining a Top 5 position until the fifth end of week so far.
Put Deadlinefrom Saturday morning, the Moana 2 the box office is expected to reach a cumulative domestic total of $394.2 million by the end of the post-Christmas weekend. That sees the movie Inching closer to the $400 million domestic milestoneof which only three films (the record holders Inside Out 2, Deadpool and Wolverineand Evil) have passed so far in 2024. The original film failed to surpass that milestone in either market, as it grossed $248.7 million in North America and $643.3 million internationally.
