Milla Jovovich is the real replacement for Liam Neeson’s character, new action film confirms

New story details surrounding an upcoming action film suggest that Milla Jovovich can be the perfect replacement for Liam Neesonof Taken character. When director Pierre Morel Taken It first hit the big screen in 2008 and received mixed reviews from critics. While some appreciated how it offered escapist fantasy to male audiences around the world, others couldn’t help but ignore how derivative it felt from many similar films of the past.

Despite being divisive, however, Taken performed incredibly well at the box office, earning $226 million against a budget of $25 million. The film played a crucial role in turning Liam Neeson into an action star. Its success even spawned several sequels, allowing Neeson to have a full-fledged action franchise under his belt. A decade after Liam Neeson last played Bryan Mills in Taken 3it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the character. But after all these years, Milla Jovovich is about to play a role that could be a worthy replacement for the former Green Beret and CIA officer.

Milla Jovovich’s Next Movie Sounds A Lot Like Taken (And She’s The New Liam Neeson)

Like Mills, Jovovich’s character will rescue his daughter

As the new story details Milla Jovovich’s upcoming thriller film project titled Protectorsuggest, she will play a Bryan Mills-style character named Nikki. The character is a former war hero who initially believes her violent past is behind her, allowing her to peacefully raise her daughter, Chloe. However, to her dismay, trouble knocks on her door when one day she wakes up in an abandoned factory and soon discovers that someone has kidnapped her daughter.

Although Taken appears to create an escapist fantasy for parents, casting Mills in the role of a ruthless “protector,” Protector appears to do something similar in portraying a mother’s determination to keep her daughter safe.

Determined to save Chloe before it’s too late, Nikki shows off her military skills and races against time to uncover the truth behind her daughter’s kidnapping. As she hides deep within the city’s dangerous underworld, she is also pursued by the police and military. Nikki’s story in Protector sounds quite similar to Bryan Mills’s Taken. Although Taken appears to create an escapist fantasy for parents, casting Mills in the role of a ruthless “protector,” Protector appears to do something similar in portraying a mother’s determination to keep her daughter safe.

Protector has nothing to do with Taken films and is in no way an extension of the action film franchise. However, considering the similarities between Nikki and Bryan Mills, it would be fair to say that Milla Jovovich is ready to become the new Liam Neeson. Directed by Adrian Grünberg (from Rambo: Last Blood fame), Protector It will likely have its own unique selling points, but it would still be fun to see how it would reimagine Taken tropes while carving out its own identity in the action genre.

With his long line of compelling roles in action films like Resident Evil, The Fifth Elementand hell boy, Milla Jovovich has already proven her ability to portray tough and resourceful female characters who can take care of themselves and fight evil in the most serious situations. Because of this, it’s not too difficult to imagine her as a character who will replace TakenIt’s Bryan Mills. Like Bryan’s story in TakenNikki’s narrative in Protector it will also have its emotional core rooted in the fierce love and determination of parents to protect their children at all costs.

Therefore, even though it is an action-centric role, it will require the emotional depth that Milla Jovovich is perfectly capable of delivering. Similar to Liam Neeson, Jovovich also has an incredible screen presence, which will allow him to embody the vengeful former war hero in Protector. Not to mention that, since Liam Neesonof Taken films ran their course before reaching their conclusion, it would be refreshing to see how the same formula would work with a talented female lead like Milla Jovovich.
