Tolerance is one of five royal virtues in Metaphor: Refantazio. Like the remaining four, you can increase his rank to climb the follower Bond ranks and unlock new dialogue options and character-specific side quests. While this doesn’t affect where the main story ends, raising your tolerance and other royal virtues opens new doors along follower storylines. It can even influence your interactions with other NPCs throughout Euchronia.
You can gain tolerance points from designated quests and small, seemingly inconsequential decisions, such as undoing the alterations to Gallica’s Redgrass-Roasted Bidou recipe. Every follower in Metaphor: Refantazio Offers boosts to specific royal virtues, too, and Heismay is your guy for a lesson in tolerance. Increase his rating by spending time with him or completing other activities that promise points, from helping Fabienne at the Hushed Honeybee Inn to becoming an avid reader on your travels.

Helping Fabienne with her tireless work in the inn’s kitchen and spending time with Heismay after a string of misunderstandings and a tricky boss battle against his clones are some of the best ways to raise your tolerance. This will broaden your worldview, opening your mind to new ideas and helping you maximize follower bonds with characters like Mariawhich require you to reach a specific tolerance range.
All tolerance ranges
Each rank and what it means
Like other royal virtues in Metaphor: RefantazioTolerance has Five rows To achieve as you earn points. You will start in the first tier, inflexible, which reflects the willingness and ability of the protagonist to exercise patience and evaluate different opinions in various situations. With thoughtful decision-making and some patience of your own, you can hone this skill and achieve new ranks, including:
-
Tolerance Rank I: Inflexible
-
Tolerance level II: Open-minded
-
Tolerance level III: Generous
-
Tolerance level IV: Kindness
-
Tolerance level V: Saviour
As you level up, you’ll find that the protagonist’s newfound tolerance will effectively unlock new experiences in your Metaphor: Refantazio Game. Not only will this improve your bond with Maria, but it’s also a good idea to backtrack and try again on quests and activities previously inaccessible at a lower tier.
