Teaming up

The rest of Metaphor’s endings can only be seen if the protagonist agrees to join the Prince, then proceeds to confront Louis. In this way, it is revealed that Levi is also an Elda (And indeed, when the party sees him again, he is without the pencil horns). He has extensive knowledge of history, including the destruction of humanity through the discovery of magic, and intends to bring something similar once again.

In his villainous monologue, Levi explains that he plans to use the King’s Royal Scepter to turn the entire population of Euchronia into humans. – The monstrous kind. Citing examples of humans who overcame their anxiety and transformed back into their original selves, Levi evokes survival of the fittest. At the end of Louis’ game, Will can simply say, “You are absolutely right“To begin the fantasy is ruined ending. In this ending, He has a relationship with Lois, and the two become joint rulers of Euchronia. The epilogue is short here, explaining that all of Euchronia has been turned into mindless monsters according to Levi’s plan. For them, there is no concept of history or future – only a terrible, violent present. Thus, the last words of the play are, “What happened to the world that followed? For these people, the question is irrelevant.”

This is effectively the same bad ending as Fantasy Is Dead – The only difference is that Will is involved with Louis’ plan instead of being ignorant of it. The humans presumably destroy everything around them after Louis’ coronation, erasing Euchronia from the pages of history. There may have been some survivors, like the Alda of old, but they were left with a broken world, and they were forced to rebuild it from scratch.

If Will instead denies Louis, and agrees to fight him, he is hit with a powerful blast of magla, and corrupts his heart. Will rips out his own heart and crushes it as he prepares to summon his archetype. This time, however, nothing happens – Will crawls over dead, to Louis’ surprise and Galica’s despair.

will wake up in Academeia, the strange library in which he first learned of Archetypes in the early game of metaphor: ReFantazio. The mysterious mare, who previously described himself as the author of the utopian novel Gifted to Will by the Prince, offers an alternative explanation: Will’s journey and the entirety of Euchronia is just an illusionA closed world that exists only in fantasy. More believed that it would eventually become a utopia, but he gave up the struggle. Fortunately, the real world – the one in his book – is much better.

More Transports himself and wants into the world of his novel, a modern city as we know it, and explains that it is actually real.. But then he gives a false description of it, claiming that no prejudice exists in the world. He says that he will allow Will to continue living in it if he admits that the world he was born into was a fantasy, past the point of redemption. He sympathizes with Louis, characterizing Will’s world as a miserable cycle of people taking out their anxiety on others. Even the chaos of Louis’ rule would be preferable.

In order to see the fantasy is only fiction ending, Will must tell Levi, “I understand… you are right” when prompted. More monologues about the pointlessness of fantasy, and the two walk off together. finally, The ending contradicts some of the game’s main themes, which hold that fantasy is a mirror of the real world, and has the power to create change by showing true utopia.. This is also one of the least satisfying endings, because it immediately brings up the stories of Strohl, Hulkenberg, Galica and all the other companions of the player.

And they all lived happily ever after

When Will instead refuses Mer’s offer of an easy escape, Mer reveals that it was just a test to see how easily Will would give up. He allows Will to return to life, where he defeats Louis in an extended battle. This is how it begins Fantasy Lives On Variation – metaphorS heel happy ending.

If the player does not destroy any of the crystals in the final dungeon, they will face a much more powerful version of Levi than the game’s final boss. However, this has no impact on the ending.

With his greatest rival gone, Will takes the largest sector of the votes, and is thus declared king. The apparition of Hythlodaeus V disappears from the sky above Grand Trad, and more goes, explaining that he was the king’s archetype, created to help him find a successor. The player then has a chance to run around Grand Trad and get the final congratulations from any followers whose bonds they maxed out.

In an epilogue, Mer thanks the player directly for helping him realize his vision of utopia. The action then cuts to Will, his party, and Maria on a Gauntlet Runner. They do that The destruction of the scepter has already caused grass to grow in the desert outside Grand TradAnd decide to explore the rest of the world. The implication here is that Will, with the help of his allies, sets out to resolve the issues plaguing Euchron’s aftermath..

Prejudice still runs rampant, and the oppressed tribes still live in poverty. Many still struggle, but there are still those who believe that a better future is possible. It could be a setup for a sequel or DLC (or, being Atlus, an enhanced re-release with additional story chapters), but this is where the story of Metaphor: Refantazio Ends – for now.
