The Sister Six of the Ultimate Universe gather at Wilson Fisk's request.

While the gathering seems like a random menagerie of New York villains at first glance, The complete capital and the presence of Kraven and Mysterio give away the game that this is in fact a revamped version of the Sinister Six.

Debut as early as 1964s The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko (only two years after Spider-Man himself), The Evil Six has always been a collection of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies. While the roster often changes, the core composition usually stays intact: A heavy hitter like Sandman or Rhino, someone with non-physical powers like Electro or Shocker, a specialist like Kraven or Mysterio, and headed off by Doctor Octopus, acting as the brains of the operation. The Evil Six complement each other’s abilities so well that defeat tends to come down to the volatile tempers or egos of the team, rather than lacking raw power or skill.

The Sister Six of the Ultimate Universe dramatically shuffles the team’s roles. While mainstays like Kraven and Mysterio were still present, Wilson Fisk replaced Doctor Octopus as the team’s leader and simultaneously took on the role of Raw Muscle. Mr. Negative seems to be acting as the “superpowered” element that normally goes to Electro, with his abilities acting as the team’s biggest wildcard. The most dramatic inversion has to be replacing the Vulture (air support and reconnaissance) with Mole Man, opting for an “eyes everywhere underground” approach instead of the classic eye in the sky.

The Evil Six roster shows that Marvel takes the team seriously

The new one Ultimate Spider-Man Series is all about exploring different angles of Peter Parker’s life: he’s older here, raising a family of his own. Therefore, it does not make sense to pair him against the original Sister Six. The team consisted of egomaniacs dedicated to revenge against Spider-Man, who had defeated all of them before. The members of this new squad, on the other hand, have no history with Spider-Man. This distinction removes their egos from the equation, meaning they are more willing to follow Kingpin, their undisputed leader.

As the crime lords who rule this version of New York, each member of the Sister Six is ready to challenge a different aspect of Parker’s life as a whole. Spider-Man Life was shaken up in brand new ways; It only makes sense, therefore, that the villains of the Angry Six Do the same.
