The Red Hulk of 2099 is already very different from his powerful predecessors. Although the “standard” Red Hulk is stronger than the regular Hulk thanks to his ability to absorb gamma and other radiation, Ross Romero greatly expands these abilities. Ross became the Red Hulk of 2099 after a bizarre encounter with the injured Ego, who imbued him with his memories before dying. This effectively means that the Red Hulk has the knowledge and memories of an Ancient One – which is no surprise that he knows how to tap into powers that another Hulk wouldn’t even dream of. He’s traveling the cosmos powered by more than brute strength.

Romero debuted his hyperspace jump shortly after Ego’s death, after taking down Terrax the Planet Hunter. The ability is driven by his rage, which is in line with all Red Hulk variants and its power, but anger is just an ignition key. Transporting Nova’s entire team through space makes it clear that Hulk isn’t just star-hopping. The skill grew, allowing him to take others on the journey. It’s not just an impressive leap, but a display of cosmic-level power that allows him to carry others across the universe. This is just the beginning for the new Red Hulk.

With the power of the Red Hulk and the knowledge of Ego, the hyperspace jump is just the beginning

What’s next for this Marvel character?

Red Hulk is always undeniably strong, but Ross Romero has the advantage of working with Ego’s near-infinite awareness of the universe and its workings. The hyperspace jump allows him to move and explore, but that’s just the beginning. By combining the incredible physical power of the Red Hulk with the vast knowledge of the Living Planet, there is untold potential for new abilities to emerge or for your existing talents to continue to be refined and improved. 2099 Red Hulk has gone beyond mere strength, as his hyperspace jumping ability highlights his cosmic origins, growing power set, and sets him apart from his gamma-powered namesakes.
