Marvel Comics’ Ghost Rider
has had a few different hosts over the years, with Danny Ketch’s version of the character receiving a visual update that saw him swap his usual hellfire-engulfed skull for a set of blue-tinged flames, giving him an even more badass appearance. than usual. Leaning into this unique design, the cosplay community gave Danny Ketch’s Ghost Rider a proper blue flame makeoverwhich proves that this vision of the Spirit of Vengeance needs to return.
A rare cosplay shared on social media via Instagram and created and worn by Shawn T. Andrew (@shawnshonuff), this isn’t the first time that Shawn has dressed up as the adrenaline junkie that is Ghost Rider, with Johnny Blaze being just one of the hosts that Shawn has played.
Using a simplified version of a previously used iteration of Danny Ketch’s Blue Ghost Rider, Shawn also developed other live-action Ghost Rider designs, with his Robbie Reyes-inspired look and his red-flame Ghost Rider variant being a world pair real outfits that do justice to the character’s long and storied comic book history.
Danny Ketch’s Blue Ghost Rider Makes Triumphant Live-Action Debut in New Cosplay
Cosplay design by Shawn T. Andrew (@shawnshonuff)
Making its cerulean debut in 2008 Ghost Rider: Danny Ketchby Simon Spurrier and Javier Saltares, this “Blue Ghost Rider” came about after Danny Ketch, severely depressed and lacking energy, tried to regain control over the Spirit of Vengeance making a deal with the angel Zadkiel, with the results being much more than Danny expected. Gradually receiving more and more power, Danny nearly went crazy, with his familiar yet unique Ghost Rider outfit perfectly matching the superhero look that Johnny Blaze originated, making this cosplay a fan-favorite deep design that Shawn wears without effort.
Photographed during this year’s New York Comic Con, Shawn’s Blue Ghost Rider is a masterclass in bringing a difficult-to-adapt comic book character into the real world without losing anything in the transition. Holding a smoking ball of blue fire, it is Shawn’s massive skull and spike-covered shoulder pads, glowing eyes, flaming head, and fire-branded leather jacket and pants help sell this lookproving that Johnny Blaze isn’t the only Ghost Rider deserving of a live-action design, with Shawn’s commitment to Danny Ketch’s badass nature showing in every new photo, especially those where he poses alongside other talented cosplayers.
Ghost Rider’s blue form needs an official MCU adaptation after seeing this cosplay
This blue iteration of Ghost Rider is exclusive to Danny Ketchshowing that not only can he work in live-action, but with the MCU technically not having its own Ghost Rider currently (the MCU-adjacent Agents of SHIELD show introduced Robbie Reyes in its fourth season), there’s no time like the present to give yet another version of Ghost Rider his due. Danny Ketch Ghost Rider is a hot-headed hero who punishes those he deems unworthy, and after seeing this homemade design, it’s clear that he deserves more recognition in the cosplay space and beyond.
