THE Scarlet Witch is officially dead in the MCU, if one hidden detail in Agatha all the time It’s anything to follow. Scarlet Witch died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after bringing Castle Darkhold down on herself in her efforts to destroy the Darkhold in all universes. Her death came with much skepticism, however, as the public theorized that she could have survived the ordeal in any number of ways – especially since the Darkhold prophecy that predicts the Scarlet Witch will rule or destroy the cosmos remains unfulfilled.
Agatha all the time contributed to this skepticism after questioning his death a few times. Agatha’s doubt in Agatha all the time episode 1 suggested that she knew how difficult it was for Scarlet Witch to die, despite ostensibly seeing her body. Billy Maximoff then questioned whether Wanda was really dead in Agatha all the time episode 7, to which Agatha responded “Yes. No. Maybe.” However, the permanence of his death was confirmed in a line that might seem inconsequential if it did not come from the highest authority on the subject.
Death confirmed that Scarlet Witch is “gone”
Along with every copy of Darkhold
Agatha all the time Episode 1 introduced Rio Vidal as a cast member in Agatha’s personal spell in Westview, at which point her true identity as Death himself was still a secret. Still, when speaking to Agatha in a morgue containing what appears to be Wanda’s body (implied by her “scarlet” hair and a toe tag with the name “W. Maximoff“), Rio confirms”That witch is gone, and all the copies of the Darkhold with her.” Given that the Darkhold was destroyed, this supports precisely what Rio means by “lost.”
It was later revealed that Rio Vidal is the personification of Death. Given Death’s intimate knowledge of who is and who is not”lost“, It appears the matter has been resolved. Rio’s authority on the matter, in addition to being implied, was also established when she assured Agatha that Billy – whose identity was still secret at the time – was not hers, namely Agatha’s son, Nicholas Scratch. Rio’s reassurance would have stemmed from the fact that she knows who does or does not live in her kingdom or some other form of afterlife in the MCU.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch may only return across the Multiverse
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness confirmed the existence of variants of Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch’s death, like the deaths of most other MCU characters in the Multiverse Saga, still doesn’t preclude her return. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness established that Scarlet Witch has variants throughout the multiverse, which facilitates the possibility that Any of them could fill the role of Earth-616 Wanda in the future. This would be more likely to occur in Avengers: Secret Warswhich will likely bring together variants from across the multiverse in Doom’s Battleworld, or whatever Battleworld variation is used.
Still, it seems more pertinent to present the return of Scarlet Witch in Vision’s next solo series. This show will conclude a trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha all the timewith Wanda and her family being fundamental to the plot of the three. This could mean that multiversal shenanigans could be on the cards in the threequel series. On the other hand, it may also suggest that Rio’s careful choice of words – specifically avoiding the word “dead” – may have been entirely intentional after all.
