Marvel Rivals is kicking off its first seasonal event, and thanks to a certain land shark, it's likely to make some noise. Marvel's winter celebration is themed around everyone's favorite (or possibly least favorite) strategist hero, Jeff the Land Shark. Jeff has been making waves in Rivals thanks to its impactful final capacity. It could be his notoriety that earned him the spot as mascot for this first event, or he could have been chosen simply because he's one of the cutest heroes in the cast.
THE Marvel Rivals Winter Celebration brings with it a new game mode as well as some new unlockables. New items will be earned through quests, so players will likely want to know exactly when they can start working towards getting the cosmetics they want. It's also useful to know exactly what can be gained from this event, so players know if it's worth investing their time or if they're not interested in what it has to offer.
When does the Marvel Rivals Winter Celebration begin?
Marvel Rivals Winter Celebration Begins December 20, 2024
Marvel Rivals' The Winter Celebration begins at midnight UTC on Monday, December 20. Players who want to jump on board as soon as it launches will probably have to wait for a small update. It probably won't be anything too big, given that the event isn't adding many new features to the game, so players can probably expect to start playing soon after the event goes live.
There is currently no information on how long the Winter Celebration will last. Because it is a “winter” event rather than a holiday, this could suggest it will extend into the new year. That being said, if Marvel Rivals want to be even more inspired Surveillance and hold your own Lunar New Year celebration, the Winter Celebration may end right after the holidays, leaving a short break between events. As this is the game's first event, it's difficult to say whether it will establish a standard duration for all events.
Jeff's Winter Splash Festival game mode explained
New game mode pits teams of Jeffs against each other
Jeff's Winter Splash Festival is a new Arcade game mode coming to Marvel Rivals for winter celebration. This is a four-on-four casual game mode where everyone plays as Jeff the Land Shark. Instead of one of Rivals'standard objectives, teams will compete to cover the most area of the map using Jeff's attack.
In this mode, Jeff's attacks leave a mark on the ground. This allows players to paint the ground with Jeff's basic attack or color larger segments of the ground with area-of-effect attacks like his ultimate ability. Players can still attack each other normally, so the mode will be a balance between eliminating enemy players and trying to cover a greater percentage of the map than the opponent.
Players have had mixed reactions to Jeff since Marvel Rivals' release. Some players have expressed their joy at being able to swallow the entire enemy team and spit them out, while those who have fallen victim to this attack are often frustrated. Regardless of your opinion of Jeff in a more competitive game mode, his ultimate ability seems like the perfect way to ensure that Arcade mode can provide plenty of chaotic and fun moments. This will be especially true when all eight players in a game can do so.
