Marvel may have already revealed the next big death in the MCU Agatha all along. Agatha Harkness’ solo series opened with two episodes that ended with Agatha and her cobbled together venturing on the Witches’ Road, setting the main narrative thread in motion. Meanwhile, many questions are looming over such details as Agatha’s relationship with Rio Vidal, the fate of the Scarlet Witch, and the identity of Joe Locke’s teen, whose attempts to elaborate on himself have seemingly been stopped by a spell.
The end of Agatha all along Episode 2 saw the coven open the door to the Witches’ Road just as the Salem Seven descended on Agatha’s Westview residence. Each of the members of the coven has an express reason to tread the witches’ road, which will grant successful travelers their greatest desire, except for Sharon Davis, whose presence was shocked by Agatha in her attempt to avoid Rio Vidal. To enter this way, the coven had to sing a song that has now become a central talking point for the show for one important reason.
The Ballad of the Witches Way explains Agatha’s plot
Things don’t look good for one coven member
The songwriters for the Agatha all along Ballade, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, disclosed before the release of the show that “The Ballad of the Witches Way“Is a road map for what is to come in the series. This has already begun to appear, because the first four lines describe the assembled Agatha all along Coven:
“Look for the way
To all that is foul and beautiful
Collect sister fire
water, earth and air”
In this example, the alchemist Jennifer Kale is associated with water, the blood witch Alice Wu-Gulliver is fire, and the diviner Lilia Calderu is associated with air. While the element of earth should probably connect with the green witch Rio Vidal, Sharon Davis’ green thumb was apparently enough to give them access to the witches’ road nevertheless. The remaining lyrics are as follows:
Darkest hour, awaken your power
earthly and divine
Burn and brew with coven truth
And the glory will be yours
[Chorus]
Down, down, down the road
Down the witches’ road
Down, down, down the road
Down the witches’ road
Down, down, down the road
Down the witches’ road
Cross stitch with fate
Unlock your hidden portal
[Verse 2]
Marching ever forward
‘Below the wooded shrine
I don’t go off the road
I hold in my death’s hand
Primal night, gives sight
Familiar by your side
If one is gone, we continue
Spirit as our guide
[Chorus]
Down, down, down the road
Down the witches’ road (Down the witches’ road)
Down, down, down the road (down the witches’ road)
Down the witches’ road (Down the witches’ road)
Down, down, down the road (down the witches’ road)
Down the witches’ road (Down the witches’ road)
Blood and tears and bone
Girl, mother, crane
[Verse 3]
The road is wild and bad
Winding through the wood
Where all that is wrong is right
And everything that is bad is good
Through many miles of tricks and trials
We will wander high and low
Tame your fear, a door appeared
The time has come
[Chorus]
Down, down, down the road (down, down, down, down)
Down the witches’ road (Down the witches’ road)
Down, down, down the road (down the witches’ road)
Down the witches’ road (Down the witches’ road)
Down, down, down the road (down the witches’ road)
Down the witches’ road (Down the witches’ road)
Follow me, my friend
To glory in the end
Subsequent lines to the song are now a huge focal point as they seem to detail what will happen next. This will culminate in “Glory to the end,Although not without a significant number of stumbling blocks. It is here that Marvel has shown that death is already en route for one of Agatha’s coven.
One line in Agatha’s new song is very ominous
The ballad heralds the death of one member
The second verse will be where the covenant picks up Agatha all along Episode 3. While the “Wooded sanctuary“Probably refers to the forested witches’ road itself, references to”Primal night,” “Death’s hand,” and “Acquaintance“are less clear. But it is in the last line of the verse that “The Ballad of the Witches Way” has revealed in no uncertain terms that one of the coven will die, read “If one is gone, we continue.” This line suggests that one of them will “be gone“Aka death, while the remaining coven persists.
The fact that this line comes in the second verse means that death is probably quite imminent in the show. Whether it occurs in episode 3 remains to be seen, but there’s at least one big clue hidden this time in the show’s credits. Taken with even more evidence outside the show, viewers have begun to deduce which of the coven is about to face the chopping block.
As Agatha’s credits hint at Marvel’s next big death
Debra Jo Rupp appears with a particular type of flower
Like these Agatha all along Credits roll, each of the names of the main caste are accompanied by certain images that are quite telling. Although most seem relatively intuitive, such as Kathryn Hahn appearing next to the Wicked Witch of the West, Debra Jo Rupp – who portrays Sharon Davis – appears next to some white lilies. Although arguably representing Davis’ green thumb, It is difficult to ignore that white lilies in particular typically symbolize death. Of all the flowers that may have been used, the lilies seem most florent for this reason.

Another exception, however, is Joe Locke’s name, which appears next to a “Near death in Westview“Although this feels a little more on the nose, Joe Locke’s Teen is unlikely to be marked for death for several reasons – the most notable of which is its centrality to the plot. Confirming the mystery of his identity only to kill him off a couple of episodes later would be nonsense. With that in mind, Davis seems like a much more likely candidate.
It’s a sentiment that viewers both agree with and care about.
@VintageEpiphanyFor example, note that Davis is conspicuously absent from much of the promotional material. This is especially evident in scenes that include Rio Vidal, whose presence on Witches Road in the trailer coincides with the absence of Sharon Davis, suggesting that she will replace the Green Witch stand-in.
Users like @loveMeanwhile, concerns have been shared that Sharon is about to meet a sticky end, thanks to her intense love life so far.
A wild theory shared by @inthashadowz suggests that Sharon Davis is actually Mephisto – a character rumored to be at least mentioned in Agatha all along. This theory stems from the theory that Sharon is, in fact, a shape-shifted Rio Vidal.
A response from u/RAMcGonagall Via Reddit, meanwhile, only hopes that Sharon Davis is resurrected if she was killed off at any point as part of one of the Coven’s wishes. Whatever happens, things aren’t looking great for Sharon Davis – and perhaps Agatha all along Episode 3 will be where she meets her end.
