Marvel is already plotting the future for Channing Tatum's Gambit, setting up his next MCU show

Notice! This post contains SPOILERS for TVA #1

Marvel Comics' New MCU Connected TVA series presents an exciting potential future for Channing Tatum Gambit. As seen in 2024 Deadpool and WolverineChanning Tatum finally got to play Remy LeBeau after years of his film stuck in development hell, appearing alongside other variants stuck in the Void at the End of Time. Now, the comics have revealed a very interesting possibility for Tatum's Gambit.

Coming from Loki season 2 writer Katharyn Blair and artist Pere Pérez, the new TVA #1 stars the same Time Variance Authority seen on screen in the MCU, confirming that the organization that operates outside of time and space has access to both the live-action Earth-616 and the original comic book universe. As such, Agent Mobius and B-15 recently recruited multiple timeline-less variants following Loki's destruction of the Temporal Loom, like Earth-65's Spider-Gwen from the comics. However, B-15 also makes a point of recruiting a Gambit variant into the TVA:

This new Gambit doesn't appear to be the same one played by Channing Tatum in Deadpool and Wolverineseeing as he apparently had an early timeline and even a Rogue that he lost. However, this new Gambit variant serves as a proof of concept for the live-action Remy.as this series is essentially adjacent to the MCU canon (thanks to the multiverse).

Just like this new variant of Gambit

In exchange for kitchen privileges to make beignets, Gambit agrees to join TVA's new variant team, inspired by Mobius and B-15's work with Loki. This team includes Spider-Gwen, Captain Carter, Wolverine's son Jimmy Hudson from the old Ultimate Universe, and a TVA intern named Ingrid. To that end, it's not hard to see TVA continuing this initiative in the future with live-action variants like Channing's Gambit.

Displayed on TVA monitors in Deadpool and Wolverine post-credits, Ryan Reynolds later released the full sequence where it is implied that Tatum's Gambit survives the battle in the Void and escapes through a classic glow portal. As such, it seems like it's only a matter of time before we see Gambit again in the MCU's future.. Similarly, the live-action Gambit said he wasn't sure where he came from and that he might even have been born in the Void (a meta-nod to his film never being made). As such, he could certainly be a homeless variant without a proper timeline for TVA recruiting.

When will Gambit appear next?

Hopefully, we'll see Channing Tatum's Gambit in the MCU sooner rather than later. Regardless of whether he ends up working for the TVA or not, it's a lot of fun to see this other Gambit act as a prime example to show the potential of what could happen with the live-action Remy in the future.. Whether in his own movie or simply in a new appearance in something like Avengers: Secret WarsTatum's Gambit absolutely deserves to be seen again.

TVA #1 is now on sale at Marvel Comics.
