Marvel has yet to solve one big Kang the Conqueror mystery after teasing its answer across 4 releases

Even though the narrative of the Multiverse Saga has been changed, Marvel Studios still has a big Kang the Conqueror mystery to be addressed in the MCU. After the defeat of Thanos and the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios introduced Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror and his villainous variants, the new villains of the Multiverse Saga. Several projects in Phase 4 set the stage for Kang's conquest across the multiverse in the then-titled Avengers: The Kang Dynastyso Marvel Studios now has loose ends to tie up.

The arrest and conviction of Jonathan Majors in 2023 culminated in his dismissal from Marvel Studios, which put the emerging Kang-centric storyline in jeopardy. During SDCC 2024, Marvel confirmed The Kang Dynasty rename to Avengers: Judgment Daywith the Phase 6 crossover film focusing on Doctor Doom instead of Kang the Conqueror. While this makes sense, there are now a lot of unanswered questions and unexplored stories about Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, and Marvel still needs to resolve them before the Multiverse Saga ends in 2027. Avengers: Secret Wars.

The MCU's Ten Rings and Quantum Bands Have a Clear Connection to Kang The Conqueror

Theories connected Kang to the MCU's most powerful new relics

While Marvel Studios never confirmed that Kang the Conqueror and his variants would be in any way connected to some of the MCU's newest and most powerful relics, Attentive viewers spotted enormous similarities shared by these artifacts that suggested a link. 2021 Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings introduced the titular mystical bracelets, while 2021 Ms. Marvel the series premiered Kamala Khan's Quantum Band, and this was developed in 2023 The wonders. Although these relics appeared separate, 2023 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may have confirmed a connection.

The inscriptions on Kamala Khan's ten rings and Quantum Bands look surprisingly similar, and also resemble the writing on Kang the Conqueror's base of operations in the Quantum Realm. The rings surrounding Kang's base in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania they looked incredibly similar to Xu Wenwu and Shang-Chi's own ten rings. Because of these similarities, theories have emerged suggesting that these relics, and others, would be important to Kang's variant plans in Avengers: The Kang Dynastybut this narrative has now led nowhere.

Phase 6 refocus means these huge Kang connections may go untapped

Marvel refocused the MCU on Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.

Doctor Doom being evil in Marvel Comics

It initially seemed like these relics and Kang's storyline would develop gradually before coming to a head. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Marvel Studios' focus away from Kang the Conqueror and his variants means it's possible that this narrative could be forgotten and resigned to not being explored, which would be a shame. This would leave huge loose ends in the MCU and would mean that new meanings would have to be given to the ten rings and the Quantum Bands, which will be seen again in the future of the MCU.

It would make some sense that Marvel Studios would simply opt to leave Kang out following Jonathan Majors' conviction, as the studio would certainly want to distance the MCU from any characters associated with Majors. Kang could be recast in the MCU's future, with exploration of the multiverse making that possible, but the new storyline centered on Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom and other returning MCU veterans appears to have generated more excitement and anticipation. However, this leaves the fate of the ten rings and the Quantum Bands uncertain.

Even though the Multiverse Saga's evolving storyline has seemingly been completely transformed to remove Kang the Conqueror and introduce Doctor Doom, there's still a chance that Kang's narrative could be wrapped up. The next Phase 6 Avengers the films have the perfect opportunity to still address Kang's existence, and Since the villain and his variants have a huge presence in the multiverse, it would be strange if this wasn't explored. This could explain the connections between Kang, Shang-Chi's ten rings and the Quantum Bands.
