And if...? season three just introduced three powerful Marvel characters who can't return to Avengers: Secret Wars. And if...? The Season 3 finale told an intriguing story tied to the character Uatu, also known as The Watcher. In addition to And if...?After the huge multiverse cameos, the show's finale saw Uatu teaming up with several characters from the show's past to defeat Eminence, the leader of the Order of the Watchers, who is trying to punish Uatu for his repeated interference throughout the MCU multiverse.
This was one of the highest rated episodes of And if...? season 3. Not only did it conclude Uatu's story in the MCU - for now, at least - but it also included some great action, mainly due to the powers of the characters involved. The sheer power level of these characters was incredible to see in And if...?story contained, but there's no denying that they should be banned from appearing in future MCU films, whether it's the story of Avengers: Judgment Day or the multiversal completion of Avengers: Secret Wars.
The MCU has a huge problem with introducing OP characters
Overpowered characters are not something strange in recent Marvel history
Firstly, it's worth exploring the abundance of powerful characters in the MCU as of late. For the most part, the Infinity Saga had few characters that could be classified as truly overpowered. Thor, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Vision and Captain Marvel were the few heroes described as the powerhouses of the franchise, but the Infinity Saga wisely chose people like Iron Man and Captain America to be the pillars of the story. Since Avengers: Endgamehowever, several powerful characters were introduced.
Even pre-existing MCU characters like Loki, Captain Marvel, and Scarlet Witch have received considerable power upgrades since the start of Phase 4; Loki is now the god of the multiverse and responsible for holding the entire Yggdrasil tree together, while Captain Marvel can ignite a dying sun and Scarlet Witch is prophesied to destroy the multiverse. Furthermore, Characters like Kang the Conqueror, G'iah, and even Uatu himself have been introduced to the franchise and are considerably more powerful than most others in the MCU..
How powerful are the exiles in What If...? End of season 3
Joining this list are the members of the And if...? season 3's Avengers replacement, the Exiles. And if...? Season 3, Episode 7 revealed that Captain Peggy Carter had started a new team that stops multiversal incursions, consisting of herself, the MCU's original Mohawk hero Kahhori, Howard the Duck and Darcy Lewis' daughter named Byrdie, and a variant of X-Men Storm character who wields Mjölnir. Evidently, this team is incredibly powerful, with Kahhori's Infinity Stone-based powers, our site's cosmic strength, Storm's omega-level powers, and Captain Carter's heart and leadership.
However, the show took it a step further by making the Exiles even more powerful in And if...? season 3, episode 8. After teaming up with Uatu to defeat the Eminence and the other Watchers, the four heroes took the oath of the Order of the Watchers and gained immeasurable multiversal powers. The Exiles transcended time and space and essentially became Watchers, gaining all the powers that Uatu and the other Watchers possess that classify them as the ultimate guardians of the multiverse.
And if...? God-tier heroes may not return in Avengers 5 and 6
Exiles should stay away from the next Avengers films
Although the Exiles' story was compelling in And if...? season 3, many would agree that they cannot return to Avengers: Judgment Day and Avengers: Secret Wars. On the one hand, these films are already expected to be filled with characters from the mainline MCU, as well as many other multiversal variants that are rumored to be part of the story. Furthermore, the Exiles would simply be too powerful, thus making the two-part story of Avengers: Judgment Day and Avengers: Secret Wars as a result, less attractive.
From And if...? At the end of Season 3, the Exiles are arguably the most powerful characters in the entire MCU multiverse. If they appeared in Avengers 5 or 6, they could resolve the story in little to no time, defeating Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom and saving the multiverse. For this reason alone, Marvel Studios would be wise to let And if...?the incredibly powerful heroes missing from the story of the next Avengers films, allowing the other MCU heroes to face Doctor Doom in a way that would be more narratively satisfying.
