Mandalorian movie footage reveals one subtle Grogu change with massive implications

Dean Jirin and Grogo, Star Wars‘ Favorite father-son duo, are back for their own movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu. After the events of The Mandalorian Season 3, the couple will find themselves on a new adventure that we know little about because, according to director Jon Favreau, the production of the movie only recently began, and filming began a few weeks ago. While not much is known about the movie yet, exclusive footage shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event offered some insight into what’s going on with the duo.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Movie footage that was revealed to fans at D23 showed snippets of Dean and Grogu’s next adventure. In the footage, Dean and Grogo are seen taking on the Imperial Remnant, after being dropped off by none other than Star Wars Rebels Seven Orrelios. Other details include an incredible action sequence with AT-ATs and the return of the Razor crest. However, one subtle detail with Grogu has massive implications for him in the next Star Wars Movie.

The teaser shows the large piece of Grogus Rondel armor worn differently than it was in The Mandalorian Season 3. Whether it was Dean’s decision or Grogu’s, one thing becomes clear: Grogu is settling in the path of the Mandalorian. Even though he briefly trained under Luke Skywalker, this snippet shows that Grogu is becoming a different kind of warrior – one under the Creed and protection of Mandalore. This will be an important development for Grogu’s arc in the movie.

Grogu’s path to becoming integrated with the ways of the Mandalorian seems to be accelerating after the events of season 3. By doing this, Grogu’s mindset is trending in a more warrior-like direction. It could also just be a case of Dean trying to ensure his child’s safety. or cause means Grogu is likely to get into more dangerous situations that require the protection of the rondel. In the D23 footage, Grogu is walking through a shaft by himself. Perhaps he is beginning to find within himself the way of the Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be Star Wars Returning to the big screen for the first time since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
