Lupita Nyong'o's stunning Storm cosplay proves she would be a great candidate to play the Omega-level mutant in the MCU X-Men film. Marvel Studios is just beginning to introduce mutants, with a handful of mutants already in the MCU and Deadpool and WolverineThe titular heroes starring in their own Phase 5 film. While Marvel's focus is currently on the multiverse, an MCU X-Men the film is already in the works and is expected to feature all of the most essential members of the X-Men, including Ororo Munroe, aka Storm.

What Lupita Nyong'o's Storm Cosplay Means
Over the course of just over a decade, Halle Berry played Storm in the Fox film X-Men franchise, which introduced the first live-action iteration of Ororo Munroe and her fellow X-Men heroes. Although Berry's Storm is a memorable character in the X-Men films, there's still a lot that the MCU's version of the X-Men can improve on. For one, Storm's silent appearance in the Fox film X-Men films don't do justice to his majestic comic book story. About that, Lupita Nyong'o's Halloween Costume Highlights Storm's Distinctive Featuresincluding her unruly hair, her striking white eyes, and her penchant for jewelry.
Lupita Nyong'o's Storm cosplay doesn't suggest she'll play Storm in the MCU X-Men restart. Celebrities tend to dress up as famous characters on Halloween, and some Marvel actors have even cosplayed as different characters than the ones they play on screen. For example, Loki actor Tom Hiddleston and Daredevil actor Charlie Cox swapped costumes for Halloween 2019. In fact, The wondersDar-Benn actor Zawe Ashton cosplayed as Captain Marvel a few years before he was cast as Carol Danvers' second antagonist in the MCU.
Our Take on Lupita Nyong'o's Storm Cosplay
Lupita Nyong'o Could Technically Play Storm Despite Playing Another MCU Character
Lupita Nyong'o played Nakia in the MCU Black Panther and its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This doesn't prohibit her from playing another MCU character, as other actors have played unrelated dual roles in the franchise before. However, Lupita Nyong'o's Nakia had a romantic relationship with T'Challa and gave birth to their son Toussaint off-screen. Since Storm was married to T'Challa in the comics, it may be confusing for some Marvel fans to see Lupita Nyong'o play two of Black Panther's romantic partners in the same continuity. Hence, it is unlikely that Nyong'o will be considered for the MCU's Storm.
