Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Temple was subtly introduced into canon in the sequel trilogy, but its location, revealed later, is one of the best Legends Easter Eggs in the new canon. Luke’s New Jedi Order was a huge part of the Legends timeline, but hasn’t been nearly as present in modern storytelling. In the sequels, the new Jedi was already brought down by Ben Solo, as he became Kylo Ren near the end of the New Republic era.
But canonically, Luke began his training temple sometime after 9 Abi, as he saw the first hat being built in The Book of Boba FettOf all places. Luke’s temple would receive several more students by 15 abi, and by 21 abi, it had become a thriving temple, with older students beginning to teach younger ones. The novel Shadow of the Sith By Adam Christopher not only reveals this, but also confirms that the temple was located on the planet Ossus.

The Legendary Tales of the Jedi
The comic series Tales of the Jedi And Dark Empire Together they established the Outer Rim planet Ossus as an ancient Jedi world. It was attacked during the Great Sith War, leading to its abandonment and a subsequent cataclysm turning the lush planet to destruction. But most importantly, during its heyday, Ossus was a center of knowledge for the much more decentralized Jedi Order of the Old Republic era.
This caused Ossus to be abandoned for thousands of years, until the time immediately after the Yuzhan Vong War. During the reconstruction period, Luke Skywalker reclaimed the planet for the Jedi, building a new temple there for his New Jedi Order. This is why OSUS is so important when reintroduced in the new canon.

Luke Skywalker’s canon Jedi order is based on Ossus for this reason
Not Yavin 4, not Coruscant
In Legends, Ossus is a planet with significant Jedi history, and is slowly being restored to that status in canon. This has involved RPG supplements, but also tie-in materials for Star Wars: The Rise of SkywalkerWhich states that Luke received some of the Sacred Jedi texts from Ossus in a ruined and abandoned library. Most significantly, however, Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Temple is not where it was first located in legends.
In Legends, Luke took advantage of the already built temples on Yavin 4, where the Rebel Alliance was based during the Battle of Yavin, for his training grounds. This allowed a start to the order not seen in canon. Shockingly, canon stories didn’t choose the same location, despite its familiarity and marketability, instead choosing a more obscure planet like Ossus Which has even more Jedi history than the old one Star Wars Expanded Universe.
