A live action Futurama Concept trailer casts Ryan Reynolds and Chris Hemsworth in key roles. Futurama is a long-running animated show about a delivery crew 1,000 years in the future that originates from The Simpsons Creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. The fan video follows a similar concept of a live-action Simpsons Scored more than 4 million views on YouTube, starring Adam Sandler as Homer and Kristen Wiig as Marge, among others.

The trailer, like others from the creator, has the main character story and introducing the characters. Reynolds plays free, while Brie Larson plays purple. Professor Farnsworth is played by Bill Murray and Amy is played by Lucy Liu. Rounding out the live-action cast, Jordan Peele is Hermes, Chris Hemsworth is Zapp Brannigan, Sigourney Weaver plays the villainous mom, and JK Simmons is Scruffy. Bender and Zoidberg remain voiced by John DiMaggio and Billy West, respectively.

Larson, Hemsworth, Simmons and Weaver are all attached to at least a few franchises, while Peele is an A-list director and Liu is a popular star with several popular roles and two Emmy nominations. The project, if it ever happened, Would do well to favor more rising talent.

Glen Powell would play an excellent zap, while Dave Franco would suit Frei quite well. To all the boys I've loved before Star Lana Condor would be a good choice for Amy, as she displays romcom chops. It all falls in line with a live-action movie that would tell the story from the beginning, rather than an established one. Futurama Season 12, which is now streaming on Hulu.

It's fun to imagine
While it's fun to speculate about casting in a live action movie, Futurama has always been more of a cult show that has survived cancellations rather than a cultural behemoth like The Simpsons. But as with any animated show, there will always be fan castings to imagine how it would translate into live-action. It is unlikely that it will be spun off in another format. But the trailer makes a case that it would be interesting.
