Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a return to form for the Seldom franchise, introducing the more traditional, puzzle-focused dungeons in the form of Rifts. One such slot, the Gerudo Sanctum, has a tricky-to-reach chest that stumps many players. At first glance, the chest is completely blocked off, tucked into a room divided in half by an impenetrable stone wall. You can’t use an echo to fly over it and you can’t pull the wall away with Tree, so you’ll have to think about the bigger picture if you’re going to open the chest.

As a long-standing enjoyable puzzle game, Echoes of wisdom Was delightful to play for that exact reason. I love games that force me to think outside the box, and this particular encounter encourages you to stop thinking about dungeons room by room, instead asking you to consider the dungeon as a whole. With more traditional dungeon crawlers, you stop thinking about the dungeon once you leave it, moving on to the next challenge, but to open the chest in the Gerudo Sanctum, you’ll have to end that way of thinking.

How to reach the chest in the Gerudo Sanctum

Make sure you have a Holmil Echo

Zelda uses a sawmill to dig into the acorns of wisdom

Before you can reach the tricky chest, You will need to have a Holmil Echo, which can be found in the Ancestor’s Cave of Rest. You should have cleared this place earlier in the questline, but if you didn’t defeat one of the Holmils there to learn his echo, return to an earlier save so you can do so. Once you have the Holmil, progress through the Gerudo Sanctum until you reach the exterior part of the dungeon.

This will mean passing through the chest the first time you see it. Once you reach the exterior part of the dungeon where you fight the Poe, take the ladder up to the upper level. Here, you should notice that one of the tiles on the floor, just in front of the stairs, is sand rather than tile. Use the Holmill Echo here and fall through the hole.

The hole will drop you right into the room with the chest, allowing you to loot it. Inside, you’ll get 50 rupees for your efforts, which is a nice chunk of change. Although this reward may seem overwhelming, it should also have taught you a quick lesson about The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdoms unique dungeon design philosophy; When approaching a challenge, think of the dungeon as an entire encounter rather than individual challenges.
