Before being hired full-time by Jessica, Harvey worked as an assistant district attorney. In other words, depending on how the timelines of both shows intersect, Harvey Specter would likely have worked with Ted Black at some point before the events of Suits. Macht’s caption doesn’t actually mention Amell’s character, but it’s clear that the “friend in need” in question is Ted Black, the co-founder of Suits: LABlack Belt Law. The similar scenario was too much of a coincidence for Suits After all, don’t make use of it.
Harvey and Ted knowing each other from their time working at the DA’s office makes sense
It’s the best and easiest way to connect suits: LA To Suits
Suits has been a popular show since the beginning and has become even more massive in recent years thanks to streaming. One of the immediate results of this Suits revival was the announcement of a spinoffwhich, unlike the short-lived Pearsonwould focus on new characters. With Suits season 10 didn’t happen, the next best chance to revisit characters like Harvey and Mike was therefore Suits: LA However, it was not yet known how much the new and old programs would intersect.
As the title indicates, Suits: LA it would take place in a different city and company than the original show. Between the AL scenario and the different companies, There weren’t many apparent connections between the two Suits shows beyond Harvey and Ted’s shared experience. Harvey showing up in Los Angeles to help an old friend from his district attorney days is a simple but effective way to tie the shows together.
Harvey’s personal connection to Ted Black means Mike may not be included
Whether Patrick J. Adams’ character will also appear remains to be seen.
At the time of writing this article, Mike’s return in Suits: LA It has not been confirmed or rumored. Although Mike may still appear in the new series, Just because Harvey is returning doesn’t necessarily mean Mike will return, too. While it would be fun to see Harvey working in a legal clinic, which is very different from what he used to do in Suitshe will be in Suits: LA to help a friend. In other words, it could be that Harvey once again takes on a big case on his own.
Harvey’s history with Ted Black means that any case or situation the fan favorite Suits character gets involved during the spinoff will be personal. So Mike Ross doesn’t need to be part of this particular story. That doesn’t mean Mike shouldn’t be Suits: LA Quite the contrary, it would be interesting if Mike also had his mini-arc Suits: LAperhaps appearing in a different set of episodes for an entirely different storyline.
