Krysten Ritter Addresses MCU Return as Jessica Jones Amid Daredevil, Punisher and Other Marvel Netflix Characters Officially Going Canon

Jessica Jones Actress Krysten Ritter weighs in on the possibility of another appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after her Netflix show comes to an end. 2024 came with a surprise for the MCU timeline when it came to Netflix's Marvel TV shows, as the street-level heroes they created The Defenders The franchise's saga has now become formally canonical to the larger universe. While Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Jon Bernthal's Punisher will be back in 2025, there are still other Marvel-Netflix heroes whose futures are still unclear.

ScreenRant's Joe Deckelmeier recently spoke with Ritter while promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where the MCU alum was asked about a possible return to the superhero franchise as the Marvel-Netflix shows have made their way into the Sacred Timeline canon. Although there may not be anything defined yet for the Jessica Jones star, Ritter emphasized that she would be thrilled to revisit the Marvel heroine, sharing the following:

Krysten Ritter: There's nothing I can say about it, but I love her. It would be a dream to play this character again.

There are two ways to look at Ritter's latest comments about Jessica Jones, especially considering how the Marvel-Netflix shows fit into the MCU timeline after all these years. While they may not have announced any plans for the near future, the latest decisions regarding this side of the franchise make it clear that there's at least a promising chance for heroes other than Charlie Cox's Daredevil to return to the fray. Otherwise, they would have recast the other Marvel-Netflix actors, which didn't happen, especially when looking at Daredevil: Born Again as a prime example.

It's also important to remember that MCU actors are sometimes asked in interviews about future appearances or involvements, but aren't able to reveal anything to the public, especially when it comes to a surprise return for their character. Only when Marvel Studios makes it official will they be able to actually talk about being part of an MCU movie or TV show, which could easily be what Ritter is forced to do in this case. With Ritter wanting to return to Jessica Jones in the MCU, it seems likely that she will reprise the role in the future, although details on how and when cannot be known at this time.

Danny Rand, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock as The Defenders on Netflix

With Ritter's latest update on the game to return as the beloved Marvel superhero, It would be amazing if his first appearance in the MCU was somewhere Daredevil: Born Againregardless of whether it is the 1st or 2nd season, the latter of which is already confirmed to happen on Disney+. This would be a suitable way to give her a gentle reintroduction after the events of Jessica Jones Season 3, while also leaning on the ties she has with Matt Murdock. But until his return happens, fans can always relive Jessica Jones and Ritter's other MCU appearances in The Defenders series on Disney+.
