Nobody wants thatThe new Netflix romantic comedy starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody is off to a strong start on Rotten Tomatoes. Created by Erin Foster, based in part on her own experiences falling for her husband, the 10-episode series centers on the unlikely romance that forms between agnostic and successful podcaster Joan (Bell) and unconventional rabbi Noah (Brody) after they meet yourself at a dinner party. Bell also executive produces the romcom, which recently premiered on Netflix.

The romcom has only one negative review out of 19 at the time of this writing. The audience rating is also high, currently at 84%, although both numbers are subject to change.

The new series was clearly positioned as a must-watch for those who grew up watching the main actors as icons in the teen drama space. In his review for TVLineDave Nemets elaborates on the appeal to anyone who enjoys the genre: “It’s a joy to see Bell and Brody bounce off each other like this, each at the top of their game. And it’s a shot in the arm for romantic comedies in general.” Praise is also given to these Nobody wants that Supporting cast, which includes Justin Lupp, Timothy Simmons and Sherry Kola, among others.
Bell and Brody have been scene partners before, most notably on the Showtime series House of Lies And the 2013 film Some girl(s).
Some Reviews warn that the show has pacing issues and that the premise is too thin for ten episodes. Writing for VarietyAlison Herman alludes to some of the series’ more negative traits: “Many people will want to see Nobody Wants This. I just doubt they will have lasting memories of it.” However, most assessments agree that it is a pleasant experience enhanced by the main actors.

The charm of the show is clear to see when Noah and Joan say their first goodbyes. While there’s definitely an endearing quality to seeing Brody playing a clear-cut rom-com lead after spending years playing cute characters, fans of the genre should enjoy Nobody wants that And appreciate its soundtrack even without pre-established fondness for the couple at the center of the love story.
