FIFA is making major changes to its esports scene as the company confirms that they no longer work with EA on the annual esports tournament.. For years, FIFA dominated the video game market thanks to a licensing deal with EA that helped keep rivals like Konami out of the spotlight. Konami has long tried to overthrow FIFA on its own. Professional football before eventually focusing on the free-to-play market with Electronic footballa move that appears to be paying dividends with a new contract.
Per GamesIndustry.biz, FIFA has partnered with Konami to host the FIFAe World Cup esports event, which will feature Electronic football not EA EA Sport FC 25. Starting today, players will be able to compete in qualifying matches that will eventually lead to two main tournaments taking place in 2024: one dedicated to the mobile version Electronic football and the other one will be on consoles. The inaugural championship will feature players from all over the world, including Brazil, Costa Rica, England, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand and Turkey.
