Killing Floor 3 will be released in 2025, as revealed in a new trailer in The game prizes, continuing the action-horror series known for waves of modified Zeds, explosive weapons, and buckets of blood. Launch Eight years after the launch of Kill Floor 2 and built on Unreal Engine 5, Killing Floor 3 has elevated the detail and gore for a next-gen experience. The newest entry in a series about Surviving waves of increasingly powerful Zeds brings new maps, new abilities, and a major update to expert customization. Horzine's genetic experiments spread far beyond the UK and Europe, and players must fight the bioengineered Zed army alongside Nightfall, a rebel organization, in the year 2091.
Unlike other games revealed at The Game Awards Killing Floor 3 is scheduled to come out very soon. According to the trailer, the game will be released in March 2025. This period makes a lot of sense after the previous announcements leading up to the game in recent years, and the short waiting period is refreshing compared to other release windows for the game. Any especially eager gamer can sign up for a closed beta before the game's official launch. There, they can get in on the action of killing Zed and fighting the evil Horzine corporation before the game is officially released.
Killing Floor 3 Trailer and Gameplay Details
Vertical maps, new Zeds and unlimited customization
The trailer for Killing Floor 3which was released at The Game Awards alongside other major announcements, showcases a completely revamped look Floor of Death experience. Beautifully and horribly animated, the newest trailer shows a group of Nightfall Specialists fighting Zeds on indoor and outdoor maps with a wide variety of weaponsincluding pistols, machine guns, SMGs, katanas, claws, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, shotguns, and an explosive bow and arrow. The game also brings back Mr. Foster as a specialist, which raises questions about how exactly the commando is still fighting more than 70 years later.
The core gameplay of Killing Floor 3 appears to be the same as previous games in the series, as up to six players fight waves of monsters together. As before, players will choose their character archetype and perks, which they can further customize with a variety of primary weapons and unique grenades. The most important change Killing Floor 3 is the new level of customization that will be available to players.
Alongside three new Nightfall specialists – Luna the Sniper, Obi the Doctor, and Nakata the Ninja– Killing Floor 3 is adding unique secondary weapons to each perk, as well as unique tools that complement each specialization, which players can purchase from the merchant. These tools are items like ammo pouches or multitools, which can be used to unlock traps and ziplines. The developers also confirmed that the progression system for KF3 has been dramatically expanded, with 30 levels for each specialist and over 30 skill options that can be upgraded three times each.
New Zeds and Zed changes in Killing Floor 3
A monster threat more intense than ever
The game's first trailer didn't reveal many details about the Zeds featured in the game, but from the limited screen time, it appears that hordes will work similarly to Kill Floor 2but with more advanced AI, movement and weaponry. These monsters come in all shapes and sizes, while some will now be able to climb walls and ceilings, so Zed's threat can come from any angle.
Tripwire Interactive Blog Posts they suggested an ominous name for Zed, called The Impaler. While no details beyond his name have been revealed, Zed will likely try to stab players with some tricky animations. Alongside the Impaler is the Crawler, who gets an expanded family tree with the addition of the Queen. According to Tripwire, The Queen is a new boss with the ability to teleport, control the Swamp and quickly lay eggs that will hatch even more enemies. She and her brood are all pale, spider-like monsters that swarm from above, below, and on all sides.
The Zeds aren't the only ones Killing Floor 3 with updated movement, like players will also be able to traverse the map by running and climbing. The entire environment for fighting alongside friends has changed, as the maps will have “new levels of verticality and traversability”, which means more floors to kill and more ways to get around. All this information promises a much more mobile experience for players.
Which platforms are confirmed for Killing Floor 3
Zed Killing on all major platforms
As in previous games in the series, Killing Floor 3 will be available to all players on all major platforms. Once KF3 comes out in March 2025, it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
