Below Deck alum Kate Chastain was once firmly in the camp of Captain Lee Rosbach, with whom she worked on the series for years, buthe may have moved to support captain Sandy Yawn following the two captains' rivalry. Kate worked as Chef Stew aboard Captain Lee's Below Deck ship for six seasons, which established her as an important part of the crew. Although Kate and Captain Lee differed in their approaches to the crew, it was clear that the pair had a rapport in their work and knew how to work with each other's styles aboard any superyacht.
Kate and Captain Lee's relationship was something that Below Deck viewers were invested, as the older captain had a seemingly parental relationship with Kate over the years of working together. The pair were paired together for Bravo content after Kate left the series, but it's become clear in recent years that they may not be as close as they were in the past. Although Kate, who is several decades younger than Captain Lee, was a competent Chief Stew, her relationship with Captain Lee was a complement to the wonderful work she was doing. Captain Lee had a great sense of respect for Katethat he was happy to work with someone who was a no-nonsense professional.
Kate and Captain Lee worked together for six seasons of Below Deck, and then continued to be present in each other's lives. After Kate left the show, she and Captain Lee went on to host Below Deck related content for Bravo, talking about the series and their own past experiences together on screen. Although Kate and Captain Sandy have not worked together professionally on a Below Deck series, they've been growing closer over the years they've both been part of the franchise. Captain Sandy, who has been part of the franchise since Below Deck Mediterranean Season 2, met Kate over the years and befriended former boss Stew. Kate was in attendance along with fellow Chief Stew Aesha Scott at Captain Sandy's wedding to Leah Shafer, and the two spent time together at a recent Bravo FanFest. Their connection has been a unique and sweet bond.

Although Kate hasn't said anything formally about ending her relationship with Captain Lee, the two haven't worked together professionally for some time and haven't mentioned each other in public. Instead of, Kate is closer to Captain Sandywith whom Lee has a notable rivalry, and even unfollowed Captain Lee on social media. With Kate's newfound affinity for Captain Sandy and choice to unfollow him online, it's possible that the Below Deck alumni made the decision to cut ties with their former captain.
