Kaley Cuoco’s Cop Show Debuts With Perfect Season 2 Rotten Tomatoes Score

Kaley CuocoThe crime show debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score for season two. Although she has many credits to her name, Cuoco is best known for playing Penny on all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theoryin which she brought to life many of the funniest and most moving scenes throughout the CBS series. Penny’s friendship with Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) has become a particularly celebrated element of the series. After The Big Bang Theory it ended, Cuoco starred in and produced HBO’s The flight attendant. The series combined elements of dark comedy and drama as Cuoco’s complex character, Cassie Bowden, worked to solve mysterious murders while navigating her own struggles with alcoholism. Cuoco has also voiced Harley Quinn in the popular adult animated series of the same name since 2019 and starred in the 2024 Prime Video action comedy film. Season 2 of Cuoco’s crime series, Based on a true storydebuted with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season of the Peacock series followed true crime enthusiast Ava Bartlett (Cuoco) and her husband, Nathan Bartlett (Chris Messina), creating a podcast based on the exploits of their plumber and family friend, Matt Pierce (Tom Bateman), who was a serial killer known as the Westside Ripper. Based on a true story the second season sees Ava’s sister, Tory Thompson (Liana Liberato), engaged to Matt. A new series of murders begins, but Matt claims he is not behind them.

Now, Based on a true story season 2 has a 100% critic score on Rotten tomatoes. While impressive, this score is only based on 5 reviews at the time of writing and will likely fluctuate when all Season 2 episodes are available to stream on Peacock starting November 21st, along with an audience score being added. Based on a true storySeason 2 reviews highlight that the series continues to stand out with its dark comedy and chaos, while also being just as entertaining as the first season.

Even though the critical score will likely change, the 100% debut is a promising sign for Based on a true story 2nd season. Season 1’s critical score was 76% and the audience score was 77%. 100% is a significant improvement over those scores, and even if the score drops closer to 90% or 80%, that would still be an improvement over the first season. Based on a true story was finding its narrative footing, season two seems to have hit its stride.
