High Potential’s Morgan Gillory and Adam Karadec have a similar dynamic to Moonlighting’s Maddie Hayes and David Addison

Partners mirror Maddie and David’s moonlighting relationship

Kaitlin Olson’s Morgan Gillory and Daniel Sunjata’s Adam Karadec lead High potentialand their relationship parallels Cybill Shepherd’s Maddie Hayes and Bruce Willis’ David Addison in Moonlight. Just like the older pair, Morgan and Adam exude tension (whether the tension is romantic or platonic has yet to be determined) in Olson’s new certified procedural series. Additionally, Morgan and Maddie are very similar in the fact that they are both technically outsiders in law enforcement and join the police to solve crimes. Consequently, High potential is obviously the best replacement program for the missing Moonlight.

The comedy Moonlight made Bruce Willis a star and was quite influential in Hollywood, as proven by High potentialwhich aired 35 years after the end of the other show.

Moonlight premiered in March 1985 and ran for five seasons consisting of 67 episodes before ending in May 1989. The crime comedy-drama, created by Glenn Gordon Caron, centered on Maddie and David. “Will they/won’t they” romances are a unique trope in procedural shows

The sexual tension and “will they/won’t they” dynamic between Maddie and David in Moonlight was a big part of why it was a success. So, the It’s always sunny in Philadelphia star’s new detective series is set to continue the trend of the “will they/won’t they” trope with Morgan and Adam. Its slow burn would undoubtedly entice more people to watch the crime drama on ABC (or Hulu). The good news is that High potential is already planting the seeds for a romance between the two characters.

Part of what makes procedural TV shows so fun is the dynamics between the characters. In many cases, the dynamic is romantic in nature and the tension results in a slow burn. Almost all procedural series contain the slow-burn, will-they/won’t-they trope, as Castle and Bonesand that’s why people keep tuning in every week. If High potential successfully executes this trope between Morgan and Adam, its viewers will keep coming back to see what happens with them and their blossoming relationship.

Will Morgan and Adam team up with high potential (like Maddie and David did)?

Morgan and Adam have high-potential chemistry

Based on the first episodes of High potential, the possibility of Morgan and Adam becoming a couple is very high. The chemistry between Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata is there, and the tension between their two characters is growing. The only thing that could stop a romance from happening is if ABC cancels the police procedural drama series. In this day and age of TV, especially network TV, more shows are being canceled than ever before. High potential could easily be one of the lucky ones, especially if it maintains its strong ratings and quality.
