Only murders in this building Co-creator John Hoffman makes the long-awaited Scott Bakula cameo in the season 4 premiere. The quantum leap The actor has been referenced many times in the Hulu series, going back to when Oliver Putnam (Martin Kurtz) hired Charles-Haden Wilde (Steve Martin) for Bakula in season 1. When Charles sees an individual dressed as Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch ) in the Only murders in this building Season 4 premiere, he initially thinks it’s Sazz, only to see it’s Bakula, who shares that Sazz never showed up for the pilot they were supposed to film together.
While talking with TVLine, Hoffman explains how Bakula’s season 4 cameo came to fruition and reveals whether he will appear again in season 4. Before that, Hoffman shared that Bakula was “fully aware” of the series ‘Multiple references to him during the Hulu series’ previous seasons. The series co-creator also teases that Bakula is just one of several casting surprises to come in season 4. Check out Hoffman’s comments below:
I saw Scott in a fantastic musical [The Connector] In New York he was doing right before he came to shoot with us this season. I had a good chat with him about all of this, and he was so game. He was like, “I’m so excited to be a part of it, even in this small way,” which was basically all we could get with him. [for Season 4]. The real coup is that there are a couple of surprises we’ve withstood this season — he’s one, right at the top — and he’s happily agreed not to talk about it until Episode 1 airs.

Only murders in this buildings casts have included celebrities playing themselves since season 1, when Sting temporarily became a suspect in the investigation of Tim Kono’s death. The series continues the trend with Amy Schumer playing herself in season 2 and Matthew Broderick playing himself in season 3. Season 4 took celebrity casting to new heights, not only with the Bakula cameo, but with Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis and Eva Longoria portrays Charles, Oliver and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) for an upcoming Hollywood film.
Now that Charles, Oliver and Mabel know that Sazz was killed and is not just missing, a new investigation will begin, with Levi, Galifanakis and Longoria also becoming part of the investigation.
