What the New Jurassic World Revival Image Means for the Movie
Director Gareth Edwards Teases Scarlett Johansson’s Character
The new image was released as part of the Empire‘s 2025 Preview, for which director Gareth Edwards also teased a return to the style of Steven Spielberg’s original classic. He says “it goes back to what I loved about the original, with an embarrassment of riches of different settings and tense and fun action moments. There were a lot of opportunities as a filmmaker to have a lot of fun and try to play with the audience.” It continues the concept of dinosaurs living in the wild, while also beginning “a whole new chapter in the Jurassic timeline.”
Although there are many dinosaurs, Edwards also teased the new human protagonistScarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett leads a team on a high-risk mission to collect genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. Edwards says “She is looking for meaning in her life after leaving the army and this opportunity comes where [after it] basically she would never have to work again. But during this journey, she begins to question the ethical rights and wrongs of what they are doing..” This should continue the franchise’s exploration into the ethics of cloning and genetic engineering.
