Brolin is no stranger to epic sci-fi

Josh Brolin looks serious as Gurney Halleck in Dune Part Two

Brolin, in general, seems more interested in playing grounded roles in more human stories. One of his most iconic characters, for example, is Llewelyn Moss in There is no country for old people. There are some obvious exceptions, however, as he has played Thanos in several MCU films and also appeared as Gurney Halleck in both Denis Villeneuve films. Dune films. For some reason, however, the character offered to him in avatar the sequel just wasn’t what he was looking for at the time.

Even though it’s unclear who he would have played, Brolin ultimately would have been a great addition to Avatar: The Path of Water. The franchise may consist mostly of CGI characters, but the technology is so impressive that the actors’ performances shine. Although there are three more avatar movies on the way, it doesn’t seem like audiences should expect to see Brolin in any of them.
