Batman and the Clown They’ve been fighting each other for decades, and throughout that time, the Joker has been learning and evolving, proving that the monster he eventually becomes is Batman’s fault. While Batman is known for being the man with a contingency plan, the Joker can also claim the same.
The Joker likes to present himself as a madman who doesn’t really have a plan. He is an agent of chaos who agrees with whatever whim he has at the moment. While that reputation is certainly scary, it’s not entirely accurate, as the first issue of his first solo series reveals: The Joker #1 by Denny O’Neil, Irv Novick and Dick Giordano.
In this edition, readers learn that the Joker is actually very good with plans and always has a backup. After being captured by Two-Face and placed in a nefarious death trap, the Joker manages to escape and thanks Batman for doing so. After decades of fighting between the two, it appears that the Joker has truly learned from Batman’s various contingency plans.
The Joker Learned to Store Batman’s Backup Plans
Batman and the Joker face off in Batman Directed by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo
When it comes to characters who specialize in strategy, it’s hard to name anyone better than Batman. No matter what kind of situation or enemy Batman faces, he always has a plan to take down his enemy. Bruce’s ability to plan is one of the most admirable and dangerous aspects of his personality. It’s the reason he was able to survive for so long against such brutal villains. Unfortunately, Batman’s continued fight against the Joker has allowed the Joker to learn and evolve from Batmanand he began to acquire some very dangerous skills.
The Joker has evolved over the years. When he first appeared in Gotham, he was just an ordinary serial killer and there was nothing particularly dangerous about him. Apart from his appearance, he was just like any other serial killer. But over the years, the Joker is becoming more and more dangerous, and Batman is the reason for that. Every time the Joker fights Batman, he evolves and becomes more dangerous, which was perfectly proven when the Joker began adding contingency plans to his crimes – a skill he admits he learned from Batman.
The Joker has been learning from Batman since the beginning of their rivalry
Making the Joker one of Gotham’s worst threats
The Joker started out with just a knife and nothing else. But over the years, as he fought Batman, it’s no coincidence that he started using more and more gadgets. The Joker has created his own secret base in Ha-Hacienda. He created the Jokermobile and used devices such as lethal buzzers and even his own version of Batarangs. In recent comics, he’s even started wearing his own bat suits. This is all a direct response to his battles with Batman. While Batman been trying to defeat the Joker for decades, each fight only made him more dangerous.
