Notice! Spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 ahead!
Johnny Lawrence finally got the chance to redeem himself Cobra Kai Season 6 after losing an important battle in Season 4. Karate Kid The villain has undoubtedly come a long way since 1984, and the latest installment of the spinoff series continues to see his character development. Johnny is learning a lot about the balance between offense and defense, mixing the Cobra Kai ways he grew up with and Daniel LaRusso’s Miyagi-Do. This allowed him to fare better in a rematch against one of his biggest opponents in the Cobra Kai Season 6, which is incredibly satisfying given his devastating defeat.
The end of Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 saw all hell break loose in Sekai Taikai. The tournament was in its final round when a sensei from a dojo who had been disqualified for cheating made his attack. This sparked a battle across multiple dojos, and Terry Silver and John Kreese took advantage of the chaos to settle their own scores. Just as Silver was about to end Kreese for good, Johnny stepped in to save the day. From there, Silver and Johnny faced each other-a fight that Cobra Kai fans have been waiting for since season 4.

Terry Silver made Johnny’s job a lot easier at that time
In Cobra Kai Season 4, Episode 8, ‘Party Time’, Terry Silver and John Kreese (when they were still working together) lured Johnny to the original Cobra Kai location. The moment Johnny entered the venue, Silver gave the former Cobra Kai golden boy a cheap kick to the head. Johnny was disoriented for the rest of the match, which meant he really didn’t stand a chance against Silver. Of course, he applied some of the defensive moves he learned, but Johnny was still far from his best.
The only reason Johnny wasn’t worse off was because John Kreese pulled the reins on his partner, thus beginning the slow escalation of their own rift. Johnny was left struggling to maintain consciousness on the old dojo floor. A few seasons later, Johnny still hasn’t had a chance to settle the score. Daniel had a great time facing Terry Silver at the end of Cobra Kai Season 5, but Johnny himself was fighting the villain’s cronies. Happily, Cobra Kai season 6 finally gave him the chance to make things right.

Johnny proved he could beat Terry Silver too
Not only did Johnny beat Terry Silver in Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 10, “Eunjangdo,” but the way his fight with Silver was set up was a perfect reflection of his big fight in Season 4. This time, Johnny had the element of surprise on his side and he jumped up and kicked Silver in the head, just like the man had done to him once. Johnny even said, “I owed you one“, referring to that moment of Cobra Kai season 4.
From there, Johnny gave Silver a definitive beating. Disoriented by the blow to the head, the Cobra Kai the villain was completely unable to defend himself from Johnny’s attacks. The only reason Silver wasn’t unconscious on the ground like Johnny was after their fight in Season 4 is that Kwon’s scream of pain after being stabbed by Eunjangdo distracted the men from the fight.
What did Johnny learn from his first defeat?
Johnny has adopted a greater balance since Cobra Kai season 4
Johnny has always been a good fighter, but he has always had a significant weakness. He rushes into his attacks – thanks to his explosive temper and Cobra Kai training – and this leaves him vulnerable to the types of counterattacks like Daniel used in the 1984 All-Valley Tournament. In the case of Johnny’s fight with Silver in Cobra Kai season 4, he ran straight to the old dojo because he was so angry at Silver and Kreese. He did not consider that this was a very obvious trap and that a kick to the head was enough to make any victory after that impossible.
Johnny has always been a good fighter, but he has always had a significant weakness.
Getting kicked in the head is a pretty frustrating tendency for Johnny, so it was very gratifying that he got the chance to return the favor to Terry Silver. Yet, Johnny wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do this if he had rushed into the fight between Kreese and Silver. He approached the situation carefully and calmly, and the match was assured from that point on. This restraint has been a hard-earned skill for Johnny throughout Cobra Kaithe story. However, with the help of Daniel and his students, this Karate Kid the villain managed to find a much more effective balance.
