John Wick: Chapter 4 is an acclaimed film with some serious talent attached to it. In addition to John Wick franchise mastermind Chad Stahelski in the director's seat, the film features a script co-written by Michael Finch and Shay Hatten. Although Hatten also worked on John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Finch was a newcomer to the series with John Wick: Chapter 4. Still, he helped lead the duo to success, as John Wick: Chapter 4 received positive reviews. The film also did well at the box office, grossing more than $440 million.
Before John Wick: Chapter 4, Finch wrote scripts for other action filmsalthough his career was quite slow. His previous work has included writing for American Assassin, Blood brother, Interrogationand Countdown. Probably helped by the success of John Wick: Chapter 4Finch's career has taken off, as he is the screenwriter of over 10 upcoming projects. This includes reteaming with Stahelski to collaborate on his Highlander reboot starring Henry Cavill. Now, Finch has been announced to participate in an exclusive Disney project.
John Wick writer is working on a Disney spy thriller about a mega-famous magician
It will be a biopic with a spy thriller
Now, Finch is one of the writers of Disney's upcoming Harry Houdini film. Born March 24, 1874, in Budapest, Hungary, Houdini was known as one of the most famous magical escape artists of all time.. He eventually moved to the United States, where he became part of the vaudeville scene. The magician performed some of the most famous escape acts of all time, including the Water Torture Cell and the straightjacket.
According to DeadlineDisney is in development on the film Becoming Houdini. Instead of a straight drama, this biopic will be a spy thriller based on the life of Houdini. The film's producers include Danny Strong and Scott Sanders. It will be co-written by Finch and The Three Musketeers writer Alex Litvak. No casting information has yet been announced, but the film's plot will focus on Houdini's supposed secret activity in Britain and the United States.
Our opinion on the film Houdini
It will be an interesting genre combination
In a world flooded with biopic after biopic, I think Becoming Houdini could be a refreshing sight. Focusing on such a famous magician, the film manages to get the best of both worlds from his character. It could include the stunts that Houdini became known for, while also being set against the backdrop of his spy thriller plot. With a talented screenwriter like Finch writing the film, I'm sure Becoming Houdini can achieve this balance well.
