The Chicago Fire Season 12 finale shocked viewers when Jack Damon revealed that he is Kelly Severide’s half-brother, but just a few episodes later, Damon left without giving closure to his story. During the season 13 premiere, many changes were underway at Firehouse 51. Chief Dom Pascal replaced Boden in Chicago Fire Season 13, while Damon and Severide are adjusting to the revelation that they are related. The two brothers came together as Damon looked to Severide for guidance as a firefighter And Severide was open to helping his younger brother, but their happiness couldn’t last forever.

It soon became apparent that Damon was holding Severide on a pedestal. Severide was his role model, and Damon was willing to do anything to impress his brother. However, this was at the cost of Disobey Stella Kidd’s direct orders during a call in episode 2. As his lieutenant, Damon was supposed to listen to Kid, but he went against protocol, making it clear that he didn’t respect her. Severide was forced to choose between his headstrong wife and his immature brother. Unfortunately for Damon, he had to face the consequences of his actions, which meant leaving Firehouse 51 in Chicago Fire Season 13.

However, Damon came to his senses one episode later and finally talked to Severide. It was good that Damon apologized to Severide (which seemed sudden as episode 3 ended). However, Damon also needs to make amends with Kidd. Even if she wasn’t his sister, Damon’s actions directly affected Kidd, and she deserves an apology from him. Kidd’s season 13 arc is partially centered around her problems with Damon. It just wouldn’t feel right if their inevitable and necessary conversation happened off-screen. Therefore, Damon’s story still feels unfinished Chicago Fire Season 13, and it won’t have closure until he asks for forgiveness from Kidd.
