Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.
I think adapting Tommy Maximoff’s new origin story for the MCU later Agatha all the time teased that his return would be the perfect story for Marvel Studios speculation Young Avengers project. Three years after 2021 WandaVision ended with the apparent death of Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s magically created twins, Billy and Tommy, I was thrilled to see the former make his triumphant return to the MCU. Agatha all the time Episode 6 confirmed that Joe Locke’s “Teen” is actually Billy Maximoff’s soul in William Kaplan’s body, which made me hopeful that his brother would return as well.
Billy and Tommy Maximoff were previously played by Julian Hilliard and Jett Klyne, respectivelyin WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, inspired by Marvel Comics stories, which detailed a complicated history of the twins reincarnating in the forms of Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd, new actors have taken on these powerful roles in the MCU. I think Joe Locke was perfect casting for William Kaplan, whose deceased body was taken over by Billy Maximoff, and I’m excited to see Tommy Maximoff recast in the MCU.
Tommy Maximoff returned to the MCU in Agatha all along
Agatha All Along episode 8 saw Tommy’s soul find a body
We’ve been waiting almost the entire series for Tommy Maximoff’s return to the MCU, but Agatha all the time episode 8, “Follow Me My Friend/To Glory at the End,” finally made that a reality. During the final trial on the Witch’s Road, Agatha Harkness used her experience to help Billy Maximoff psychically connect with his brother’s soul.who did not find a body after being freed from the Westview Hex. Billy found an empty container for Tommy’s soul, and Billy and Agatha, now in their ghost form, set out to find Tommy. Agatha all the time end.
I noticed some clear changes between Tommy Maximoff’s new origin story in the MCU and his history as Thomas “Tommy” Shepherd in Marvel Comics. Agatha all the time episode 8 revealed that Tommy Maximoff’s new body comes from a troubled home, with apparently no one looking out for him, and he is the victim of intense bullying, which culminates in his death.with his bullies drowning him. This makes me think that the new Tommy Maximoff will be a darker character than Jett Klyne’s version, but could work perfectly for the MCU.
How the MCU Could Still Adapt Tommy Maximoff’s Marvel Comics Origin
Tommy Maximoff’s new origin story is perfect for the MCU
Although Marvel Studios changed many aspects of the plot of Tommy Maximoff’s reincarnation for the MCU, I still think Tommy Shepherd’s story can be adapted with some fidelity. In Marvel comics, Tommy Shepherd had a difficult upbringing and comes from a separated family, which led him to become a rebellious teenager. Billy Kaplan’s Wiccan and the Young Avengers tracks down Tommy Shepherd, who has speedster abilities like his uncle, Quicksilver, at a high-security facility where he was imprisoned after accidentally vaporizing his school using his powers.
Marvel Studios has already created the perfect way to adapt this origin story. I think Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan could still find his brother imprisoned, perhaps after accidentally vaporizing his bullies after taking up residence in his new body after being drowned. This would be a pretty dark origin story for the new Tommy Maximoff in the MCU, but I think this would be a perfect way to establish his darker streak as Speed.. I would love to see this more mature and experienced version of Tommy Maximoff, and I know exactly where he could appear.
Why Marvel’s Young Avengers Project Is the Best Place for Tommy Maximoff to Return
The Maximoff Twins Would Make Excellent Young Avengers
The introduction of several young heroes in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga made me think that Marvel Studios will certainly develop a project focused on the Young Avengers. This could include Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye, and then Agatha all the timeWiccan by Billy Maximoff. I think this would be the perfect place for Tommy Maximoff to officially return, as it would authentically adapt his Marvel Comics origin. While the MCU Vision series would be a strong point for Tommy Maximoff’s return, his appearance in a Young Avengers film makes a lot of sense.
