Ruby Rose, who faced off against Keanu Reeves' titular killer in John Wick: Chapter 2talks about his interest in the story of Ares. Rose played Ares, Santino D'Antonio's personal bodyguard who faces John Wick in the second part, but like all the other assassins who try to hunt John, Ares doesn't survive the fight. The actor admits that she “I would love“to explore her character more deeplyand that she personally would like to see Ares' story. Check out what she had to say below when asked if there's more to explore with Ares:
Oh, I would love that. I mean, I don't know if that would happen, but I mean, she was fantastic and I loved speaking sign language and I love the kind of complexity of it and the whole kind of trickery of it. But yeah, I don't know, I would love to see her story. It would probably be very different from the one I created for the role, which is always an interesting thing. But yeah, I mean, I love Chad and I love everything they do over there at Lionsgate, so that's great.
What this means for Ares in the world of John Wick
There's still a lot to explore
Ares is Santino's right-hand man and one of the best assassins in John Wick. Although his screen time is limited, Ares is an intriguing character who delivers a memorable final moment through sign languagesaying to John: “To be seeing you.” Like many characters in the underground mafia world, Ares also has a form of disability. It is unclear whether she was born with mutism, although it is very likely that Ares lost her voice at some point, as physical mutilation is often a punishment for murderers.
His intriguing final words and deep look at Wick also suggest there is More than meets the eye to Ares. Rose's comment indicates that the John Wick The films serve as a successful model for several characters, but the franchise is far from over. There are so many aspects and stories to be explored, with Ares being one of the intriguing characters the franchise could explore in future projects. The world of John Wick is already expanding with several spinoffs, so perhaps Ares could welcome it in the future as well.
