Unfortunately, they were right. Just days after the network revealed that John Dutton III would not appear in Season 5, Part 2, Paramount also revealed that there would not be a sixth season. In the months leading up to the release of yellow stone season 5, part 2, Reports claimed that Paramount was developing a spinoff series starring Kelly Reilly as Beth, Cole Hauser as Rip and Luke Grimes as Kayce. The network never confirmed these reports. However, all signs pointed to Reilly, Hauser and Grimes reprising their yellow stone roles in some kind of project after the end of Season 5, Part 2.

Then, rumors indicated that Paramount would scrap the spinoff and just renew yellow stone for a sixth season (starring Reilly, Hauser and Grimes, of course). But as the spinoff series reported, Paramount has not validated these claims. Only time will tell if the Dutton family legacy will survive once yellow stone season 5, part 2 ends.

Since season 5 will have 14 total episodes when it ends and part 1 contains eight, yellow stone season 5, part 2, will only have six episodes. The debut of Season 5, Part 2 (also known as Season 5, Episode 9) will premiere on Sunday, November 10th at 8pm ET on Paramount Network. The rest of the episodes are expected to air back-to-back over the next few weeks, meaning the finale will arrive in December 2024. Taylor Sheridan has three new Yellowstone spinoffs in development

Even though yellow stone season 6 doesn’t happen after Kevin Costner’s departure, creator/showrunner Taylor Sheridan has plenty of other TV shows and spinoffs in the pipeline yellow stone universe in the works. To begin with, filming the long-awaited second season of yellow stone prequel 1923 is in progress and is set to premiere in 2025. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren reprise their roles as Jacob and Cara Dutton (the great-great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather of Costner’s John Dutton III) in 1923 2nd season, while DexterJennifer Carpenter and New AmsterdamJanet Montgomery joins the cast as Mamie Fossett and Hillary, respectively.

Sheridan also has three new yellow stone ongoing spin-offs, including Madison, 6666and 1944. The status of 6666 (which would revolve around the Four Sixes Ranch in present-day Texas) and 1944 (which would serve as another prequel about the Dutton family in 1944) are unknown at the time of this writing. It’s unclear what stage of development they are in or when they will be released.

However, filming for Madison starring Michelle Pfeiffer began in August 2024 and is scheduled to premiere in 2025. Madison follows Pfieffer’s Stacy Clyburn, a wealthy matriarch who moves with her family from New York City to the Madison River Valley in central Montana after the deaths of her husband and brother-in-law. Other cast members from yellow stone spin off Madison include Patrick J. Adams, Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman and Matthew Fox.
