Warning: Contains spoilers for the final arc of Undead Unluck.Luck of the undead is arguably one of the most popular Shōnen Jump manga coming out of the 2020s. While it never reached the same heights as other manga from this period, such as Dias Sakamoto, Blue Boxand especially not Jujutsu KaisenThe great character writing and creative writing, however, made it a hit with fans and critics alike, especially after the anime helped it reach a wider audience.
Luck of the undead was an excellent addition to Shōnen Jump programming for years, but his time at the magazine is slowly ending. Anyone who has followed the manga will know that it has been heading towards the end for some time now, but according to recent reports, Luck of the undeadThe final chapter of may come sooner than anyone could have predicted. This kind of premature ending would only add to the current arc's problems, and unfortunately, it's unlikely that won't be the case.
Undead Unluck All But confirms its upcoming ending
According to several manga reporters, mainly Shonen Jump News on X, Luck of the undead will receive a color page for its “super climax” in the Shōnen Jump after the next, scheduled for release on December 22 in the United States. While a climax traditionally refers to a story reaching the point of greatest tension, in Japan, a climax refers to the end of the story, so Luck of the undead reaching its “super climax”, combined with getting a color page, almost says it will be over in two weeks.
This, of course, is not the first time Shōnen Jump did something like that. Mashle: Magic and Muscle and The Promised Neverlandfor example, both advertised their final chapters as a “super climax”, and even My Hero Academy and Jujutsu KaisenThe endings of used this terminology, but were not reported because their end dates were already announced at that time. The use of “super climax” in several manga before Luck of the undead makes it clear that Luck of the undead is endingand this shouldn't come as a shock to anyone involved with the manga.
Undead Unluck's Impending Ending Makes Its Final Arc Even Worse
Why Undead Unluck's final arc is so divisive
The worst part about Luck of the undeadThe looming ending of is how much it emphasizes the already divisive nature of its current arc. Recent chapters have been criticized for how much they sped up the story without allowing for any significant development, particularly in how the Master Rules were defeated in a single chapter after so much buildup as the biggest threat to the Union. Luck of the undead almost confirmed to end soon makes the rushed pacing of recent chapters even worse, eliminating any chance of a more detailed conclusionand that makes it even harder to stay invested in things.
With how demanding weekly serialization schedules can be and how even popular manga often have to plan their endings well in advance, pacing issues Luck of the undead are not entirely the fault of series creator Yoshifumi Tozuka, but nonetheless, the stellar writing and action of Luck of the undead made it a series that deserved more than a typical rushed and lackluster manga ending. There is still a chance that Luck of the undead may end on a satisfactory note, but as is the case with manga both inside and outside Shōnen Jumpthat is very unlikely at this point.
