Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers for Lioness Season 2, Episode 3, “Along Came a Spider.”
When Zoe Saldaña’s Joe meets his new Lioness in Lioness season 2, episode 2, she finds it hard to believe that Josephina has no ties to her family, and it turns out that Joe is right. The Paramount+ spy thriller TV show created by Taylor Sheridan follows the show Lioness. This CIA initiative recruits qualified female operatives, nicknamed Lionesses, to infiltrate missions related to the war on terrorism. In Lioness In Season 1, Laysla De Oliveira’s Sergeant Cruz Manuelos is the Lioness at the center of the story, and in Season 2, it’s all about Genesis Rodriguez’s Captain Josephina Carrillo.
New episodes of Lioness season 2 will be released on Sundays at 3am ET on Paramount+. As Season 2 consists of eight episodes, the finale is set to premiere on Sunday, December 8th.
During the Lioness In the season 2 premiere, a Mexican cartel, Los Tigres, kidnaps a congresswoman. Joe McNamara, Kyle McManus and their team (which includes a cameo from Lioness season 2 showrunner Taylor Sheridan) rescues her, but the fight is far from over. The CIA discovers that Los Tigres is not in control. Instead, a Chinese agent from the Ministry of State Security is in charge, and it’s Josephina’s job to find them. Joe selects Josephina for the mission because she is (or was) an experienced Army helicopter pilot and Josephina’s uncle is the leader of the Los Tigres cartel.
Josephina knows Spanish and is close to the family – is she a mole in the lioness?
Joe and Kyle have Josephina break into Lioness Season 2 Episode 3
Given that Josephina joined the Army, it appears that she was trying to separate herself from her crime family in Lioness season 2. When Joe meets her, Josephina claims she never met her uncle and doesn’t speak Spanish. She also states that she loves her country. However, Joe is skeptical. Josephina’s father, who moved from Mexico to the United States as a child, undoubtedly still maintains communication with his brother, as he owns a mansion that he could not afford with his salary. So Joe and Kyle poke and prod Josephina in episode 3 and finally get answers.
Now that Joe knows the truth Lioness In Season 2, Josephina’s control is rapidly diminishing and she will have to choose her family or country.
During interrogation in Lioness Season 2, Episode 3, Kyle speaks to Josephina in Spanish, and she responds, confirming that she lied about knowing Spanish. After that, it was over. Joe and Kyle accuse Josephina of being a spy for their family, but she vehemently denies it. Josephina says she stayed away from her family because she doesn’t want to participate in their business. However, Josephina clearly lied to Joe because she wanted to protect them. Still, Joe gives the Lioness a chance to redeem herself by having her call her father, and Josephina does so. Lioness 2nd season.
How Josephina’s membership in the Lioness program protects her family
Josephina’s mission in the second season of Lioness is to infiltrate the Los Tigres cartel
The question of whether or not Josephina is a mole is not answered in Lioness Season 2, Episode 3“Along came a spider.” Maybe she’s acting as a double agent. However, the most likely answer to why the new Lioness character lied is because she loves her family. More specifically, Josephina doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her parents or sister, and she will be able to protect them if she is the one who goes undercover.
