One of the biggest decisions Valley of the Stars is to get married and which spouse a player wants to pursue. Since most of the charming farming simulator is about building relationships with Pelican Valley residentsit makes sense for the farmer to establish himself. It takes a lot of time and a lot of gifts to woo the love of your farmer’s life, so it makes sense to carefully consider who to pursue.
There are twelve romance options and a special roommate, available at Valley of the Stars bring to live on the farm with the player. Marriage brings many benefitssuch as gifts and tasks, but also requires a lot of effortwhich raises the question of whether marriage is worth it. However, for the complete Valley of the Stars experience, marriage is necessary.
What happens when you get married in Stardew Valley
A new roommate with gifts, chores and kisses
Marry in Valley of the Stars It’s a long process. Players must complete a long series of steps to romance their favorite romantic NPC, which includes earning eight friendship hearts, giving them a bouquet to unlock two more hearts, upgrading the farmhouse, unlocking the tide pool section of the beach and gift the NPC. mermaid pendant. The pendant itself It costs 5,000 gold and can only be purchased on the beach during rainy days. Although some mods can make this process easier, winning friendship hearts can take a long time.
It goes without saying that marriage is a lot of work. Depending on the NPC the player chooses to romance, marriage can also be expensive, as some NPCs have more expensive tastes for loved gifts than others. After the marriage ended, the new spouse will move into the farmhouse and you will now have four additional hearts to earn.
If the spouse is happy by talking to him or continuing to give gifts, he will help on the farm. THE the spouse’s helpfulness on the farm is debatableas they often water all the crops on the farm with sprinklers or feed all the animals in barns with automatic feeders. The spouses will also water the animal’s bowl and give giftswhich is also nice to receive.
Is it worth raising kids in Stardew Valley?
Children forever living on the farm
While spouses can be extremely helpful on the farm, depending on what they choose to do each day, the the potential children that farmers can have are less functional. Although it is not necessary for children to perform any tasks on the farm for the player’s benefit, it would be nice if they did anything but run around. In fact, growing them beyond the infant stage would also be good. However, It doesn’t seem worth having kids Valley of the Stars unless players are going for a completionist run.
Who should you marry in Stardew Valley
The spouse with the best room, gifts and hobby
Which NPC a player marries depends mostly on personal preference, but What benefits each spouse offers can impact this decision. Once players get married, their spouse will move in and create your own room on the farm. They will also take up a spot near the farm entrance for their daily hobby, which is absolutely adorable.
A big disadvantage of a farmhouse spouse is that they can add or change any furniture on a whim, which can lead to an ugly interior design. Each romance NPC has their own cute hobbybut some look much cooler than others. Abigail has a very well rounded room that has a CRT TV with a game console, a battery, a hamster cage and a sword. In addition to his outdoor hobby of playing the flute, Abigail has the best presence on the farm.
Sam also has a well-rounded room with some instruments, a bookshelf and a PC, as well as an outdoor half-pipe for skateboarding, which makes Sam a really fun NPC to have on the farm. Sebastian, another spouse with a nice room, spends his time working on his motorcycle outdoors.

The worst room of all spouses is Shane’ssince it’s a messy room with spilled beer and disused weights. The context of Shane’s cardiac events makes this room even worse, as he had promised to give up alcohol and become a better person. This rough environment is offset by its outside chicken coop, which represents one of its most endearing features.
For late game activities, like getting to the bottom of Skull Cavern, both Abigail and Maru give bombs that rank them higher in utility.
A lesser-known “spouse” is Krobus. Friendly sewer monster can live on a player’s farm with his own room if he accepts an empty ghost pendant from the player. His room looks a lot like his area in the Sewersand he will only venture outdoors on rainy days, which means he won’t use the outdoors like the other spouses. While Krobus is fun to have around, especially because of his unique gifts, he doesn’t help on the farm like other spouseswhich makes it less useful in a utilitarian sense.
All Valley of the Stars spouse gives special gifts, but those the gifts are all well balanced enough to not make a big difference. However, for late game activities like getting to the bottom of Skull Cave, both Abigail and Maru give bombs that rank them higher in usefulness. Maru also gives a Warp Totem to the Farm, which is very useful. When comparing gifts, it seems that Abigail, Maru and Harvey give the best by a small margin.
