The return of a fan favorite on FBI: International will present a challenge for incoming Fly Team leader Wes Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer). Fly Team is one of the FBI’s smallest teams, with only the most elite members chosen to join. Scott Forrester’s exit FBI: International at the end of season 3 sets up massive changes to the squad moving forward. Forrester and his mother fled Russia and are allegedly in Alaska. Sadly, he is not coming back, and the team will have to accept their new leader despite their previous loyalty to Scott.
Mitchell will have to win over the entire team FBI: International season 4 to do his job properly. Trust and camaraderie are big factors in the squad’s success. In addition to their human members, Fly Team also includes Tank, a retired FBI cadaver dog that Forrester adopted and who is a fan-favorite. Tank has been involved in many missions as well as survived what Forrester was afraid might be a terminal illness. Tank considered Forrester his owner and was as loyal to him as the rest of the Fly Team.
Tank Will Return In FBI: International Season 4 Despite Scott’s Exit
The Dog May Be Confused Or Broken-Hearted By Scott’s Abandonment
Tank is slated to return in FBI: International season 4, which means that he will be at the Fly Team Headquarters without Scott. This demonstrates that Scott was desperate to rescue his mother, as he ordinarily would never have abandoned Tank. However, the dog will not be able to understand what happened to his original owner. Tank will likely miss Scottas he struggles to get used to his absence. Dogs’ behavior can be unpredictable during this time, thus providing a unique challenge for Wes. Tank may also be anxious because of the sudden change.

Tank knows the other members of the Fly Team, so this may help him adjust to Scott’s absence. However, this will not change the fact that Scott was the one he lived with and who took care of him. Thus, even his familiarity with the rest of the team and with the office he worked out may not be enough to soothe Tank’s grief or anxieties now that Scott is no longer part of his life, making it more difficult for him to assist on missions in FBI: International season 4.

Wes Mitchell Needs To Get Along With Tank In FBI: International Season 4
Tank Is An Important Member Of The Fly Team
As an important Fly Team member, Wes can’t just ignore Tank. The group will be loyal to Tank, who may remind them of Scott and offer them comfort as much as they do him. Additionally, Tank has a job to do; Scott adopted him partially because he didn’t believe the dog was ready to retire from assisting the FBI. Thus, Tank must continue to assist the Fly Team on missions, which will be impossible if he doesn’t trust or like the new leader. Wes needs to develop a bond with Tank for the dog to remain an effective team member.
If Wes wins Tank’s trust first, it will be easier for the rest of the team to trust him.
Developing a rapport with Tank could also help Wes win over the rest of the team FBI: International season 4. Everyone will be wary of a new leader after Scott’s sudden disappearance, which likely felt like a betrayal of their loyalty to him. Thus, they won’t want to get too close to Wes and may not trust his decisions, which would spell disaster for the Fly Team’s missions. However, if Wes wins Tank’s trust first, it will be easier for the rest of the team to follow suit.
How Wes Will Be Different From Scott As Fly Team’s Leader In FBI: International
The New Leader Has A Different Background And Leadership Style
Wes will be a significantly different leader from Scott. He comes from years of working with the LAPD, which has shaped his character. Working in a big city like LA will make Wes used to working at a fast pace and confronting criminals without showing fear. This confrontational style is very different from the way Scott tried to find diplomatic solutions to conflicts with local policeincluding those who appeared to be compromised and could lead to higher-stakes interactions during cases. Wes will also be used to unconventional tactics, which could cause him to clash with the Fly Team.
Soffer’s post-Chicago PD role is exciting for FBI: International, as Wes’ unconventionality is a good thing as far as Tank is concerned, because he may be able to think of innovative ways the dog could help close cases. The Budapest-set show’s decision to bring Tank back opens up new storyline possibilities, but first Wes will have to win the dog over. This will be his first big test as the leader of the Fly Team, and all human eyes will be on him as he forges a relationship with the FBI dog.
