Christopher Nolan Origin occurs in at least four different dream levels, each with its own dreamer, layout, and time dilation factor. The best way to understand OriginDream levels – to assume that what Cobb perceives as reality is actually real, at least initially.
Cobb had to initiate Robert Fisher, that is, Leonardo DiCaprio’s character had to penetrate deep enough into the subject’s subconscious and introduce an idea. it will grow like a virus. Fisher’s mind was unable to trace the origin of the idea, so they needed at least three levels to complete the mission. Christopher Nolan’s film establishes a number of rules regarding how each level works, including but not limited to how time flows differently in each one and what impact will awaken the characters.
Epicenter is reality
Time dilation: No
As far as we know, reality is not technically dream level, but it can be considered the epicenter of Cobb’s mission. Origin. Origin begins with a scene that is later revealed to take place in limbo, followed by moments from two different levels of the dream that help us understand what Cobb is doing and how the concept of shared dreams works. Between Cobb and Arthur’s first interaction with Saito and Cobb fleeing for his life in Mombasa, tracking reality in the first act Origin can be difficult.
We are asked to assume that everything that happened from the time Cobb was hired by Saito until the start of Fisher’s mission took place in reality, with the exception of a couple of flashbacks. Nevertheless, Origin plays with the idea of what is real and what is not before it actually happens. Origin The mission begins, especially when Cobb doesn’t wait for his top to stop spinning after he wakes up from a sound sleep powered by Yusuf’s new compound in Mombasa. No matter what, Fisher’s mission begins inside the plane.
Level 1 – rainy city
Time dilation: 10 hours equals one week
Assuming that the reality Cobb knows is indeed the real world, the first dream level of Fisher’s mission is a rainy city. Once the team is sedated and falls asleep on the plane, they find themselves in the middle of the city during heavy rain. We learn that the rain is caused by the fact that Yusuf, the dreamer on this level, drank too much on the plane before falling asleep. This is where the original plan begins.where the team staged the kidnapping of Robert Fisher.
The idea was to use a kidnapping scenario to force Robert Fisher’s subconscious to reveal key information about his relationship with his father, which was key to Cobb’s original plan. However, Arthur’s research did not reveal that Robert Fisher was trained to protect his subconscious from dream invaders such as Cobb. That’s why Cobb and his team are attacked by armored men. in the middle of the city is a defense mechanism sent by Fisher’s subconscious. This completely changes the parameters of the mission, forcing the team to delve deeper and faster into Fisher’s subconscious.
Second level – hotel
Time dilation: 10 hours equals six months
Having completed the abduction procedure on the first level and realizing that Fisher is more than ready to deal with them, Origin the characters pursue a much riskier plan in the second level – “Mr. Charles. It involves telling Fischer that he is dreaming so that Cobb can pretend to be the man training him. deal with extractors. This is an extremely risky plan because it reveals to the target that she is in a dream, meaning her subconscious will immediately set up a defense. Via “Mr. Charles”, Cobb learns more about Fisher.
The goal here is to make Fischer believe that his godfather is a traitor. The only way to fix Robert Fisher’s relationship with his father was to destroy the only positive relationship he had in his life, so Browning began to be considered a traitor. WITH Fisher begins to believe that Browning was behind the kidnapping. and having bought Cobb’s story about Mr. Charles, he was now part of the team, unaware that he was actually the target of their mission. Then Cobb, Eames, Saito, Ariadne and Fisher drop down another level.
The third level is the Snow Fortress.
Time dilation: 10 hours equals 10 years
Fischer, who now believes Cobb and his team are trying to help him, thinks he’s the one dreaming of that level. The Snow Fortress was supposed to be the final stage of the mission, and the fort in the center of the map guarded the secret that Fisher believed he was looking for. In reality, Fisher’s arrival at the fort was a manifestation of the design they were trying to carry out. They were now deep enough in Fisher’s brain to implant the idea that his father not only loved him, but wanted his son to forge his own path.
The plan goes awry when Cobb, who insists Ariadne show him the fastest way to the fort, brings Mal to Fisher. Cobb was not a dreamer or an architect on any level because his subconscious was compromised due to the guilt he carried with him over Mal’s death. Mel got to Fisher before he could open the safe and shot him. The mission was about to be declared a failure, but Ariadne suggested going even deeper so that there would still be time to resuscitate Fisher. and complete the mission.
Level four – Limbo
Time dilation: 10 hours equals 200 years
OriginThe levels of sleep and the rules of time dilation begin to become more complex once they enter limbo. It’s unclear exactly how limbo works or what it even is, including whether each person experiences their own limbo or whether it’s a general level of sleep. Ariadne, Fisher and Saito were apparently sent into the same limbo that Cobb and Mal inhabited. for all these years, and we can even see the world they created. Although it was very risky to go into limbo, if all the strikes were done correctly, everyone would be able to return.
Once Ariadne found Fisher, she kicked him and herself out of Cobb’s house so she could hit them both. Cobb stayed behind to finally deal with his memories of Mal and find Saito, who had died in earlier levels and was in danger of being lost forever in limbo. The limbo time expansion with this particular connection was 1 in 160,000, meaning Saito could have already lived his entire life by the time Cobb found him. This is exactly what happened, and it brings Origin a full circle back to where the film began.
Connected
Once Cobb finds Saito and reminds him of who he was and the promise he made, it is implied that they kill themselves and wake up. All the other hits in the other levels were successful: the bombs Arthur planned in the elevator, the van falling and hitting the water, and the timer reaching zero on the plane. Origin ends with the entire team waking up in the real world as Saito picks up the phone to make sure Cobb can return to the United States. Cobb returns home but doesn’t check to see if his totem has fallen, hence the endless theories.
