Mission: Impossible 8 It could be the last installment in the franchise. The highly successful film series starring Tom Cruise as superspy Ethan Hunt began in 1996. Starting with the fourth installment, 2011 Ghost ProtocolCruise used the franchise as a springboard for increasingly intense real-life stunts, including hanging off the side of a jet plane and climbing the Burj Khalifa. Partially driven by these notorious stunts, the films have grossed more than $4 billion. The franchise is already scheduled to continue in 2025 with the next Mission: Impossible 8directed by director Christopher McQuarrie.
A new report from THR suggests that Paramount is thinking about calling the next Mission: Impossible 8 the “end“parcel in the film franchise. However, they also report that Cruise himself is cautious about putting the Ethan Hunt character to bed, having previously expressed feelings that he would like to continue starring in new Mission: Impossible films for another twenty years or so. Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether they commit to this decision, as the film has yet to receive an official trailer or title, much less a more detailed publicity release.
