Married at first sight Season 18 couple Juan Franco and Karla Juarez are not in a good place in their new marriage, and I'm sure that's Juan's fault, despite Karla's shortcomings. I am an avid Married at first sight fan with expert knowledge of all the cast members, and I think Juan is the most problematic cast member this season. Juan and Karla get together Married at first sight season 18 by four other couples; Camille Parsons and Thomas, Michelle Tomblin and David Trimble, Ikechi Ojoré and Emem Obot, and Madison Myers and Allen Slovick.
All of the Season 18 couples said yes to marriage to stranger spouses, went on their honeymoon in Mexico, and are adjusting to the living together part of the experiment. The couples are almost a month into their anniversary and none of them have given up yet, which makes this season already more successful than the last four. I saw Juan and Karla start their marriage happily, but now I'm sure Juan is no longer invested and is sabotaging his marriage with Karla.
Juan isn't trying hard enough to connect with Karla
Juan “forgot” Karla
The first red flag displayed by Lifeof Married at first sight Juan from season 18, was when he had a romantic dinner with Karla and completely ruined it. Juan told Karla that he had so much fun hanging out with David that he forgot Karla was on her honeymoon. I know Karla was deeply hurt by Juan's feelings, and I can tell it made her passive-aggressive and resentful. As they adapt to life together, I don't see that Juan is trying hard enough to connect with Karla.
Instead of taking her for her ritual weekend bike ride, he scolded her when she got home for waking up late. I don't think Juan is doing enough to show Karla that he cares. Karla has been open about the things she needs emotionally and physically from Juan, and he doesn't meet those needs enough to further the relationship, which makes it problematic.
Juan is on the show for the wrong reasons
Juan is an influence seeker
I'm also noticing the fact that Juan isn't Married at first sight for the right reasons. In the last episode, Juan mentioned that he was a model for years, so I think he's using the show to expose himself. Additionally, Juan has a startup technology company and promoted it through his company logo during the After Party.
I think Juan is less interested in making the marriage work and more interested in convincing Karla to get more air time and a wider audience.
Juan has lost attraction for Karla and isn't trying to get it back
Juan is not trying
I heard @mafslifetimeJuan said earlier this season that Karla was a beautiful woman and had sex appeal. However, He has since lost that attraction. When sitting with MAFS Pia, Juan regretted not feeling a spark with Karla, but he didn't know exactly why, and I don't think that's productive for the progress of their marriage.
“I don’t know, I don’t feel the chemistry.”
Karla has deficiencies that she is improving
Juan doesn't want to see Karla's improvements
Karla received criticism from Juan and the experts that she was passive-aggressive, but she made an effort to self-correct. Karla has been more direct with what she needs from Juan, but I know Juan has been disappointing her.
Karla is determined to want her marriage to work, but Juan is unable to satisfy her energy and desire to connect.
I believe Juan is purposely stuck on Karla's attributes that he doesn't like, like her capricious and free-spirited nature. He is failing to see the value of his qualities and personality. Karla also said she is willing to compromise on finances after letting Juan know she prefers a supplier.
Can Karla and Juan last on MAFS Season 18?
It's getting clearer
There's still a lot of season left Married at first sight season 18, and Karla and Juan have time to progress intimately and in their basic friendship. I feel the responsibility lies with Juan at this pointsince he is the one who is detached in the marriage. With more guidance and guidance from the experts, Karla and Juan can make their marriage work.
Married at first sight airs Tuesdays at 8pm EST on Lifetime.
