Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Superman & Lois season 4, episode 8.A major new character has caused chaos in Superman and Lois‘ last episode, and it looks like the DC series’ version of Brainiac is finally here. Superman and Lois The Season 4 cast continues to grow in interesting ways with each new episode. Although the show has a smaller budget than previous seasons, leading to characters like John Henry Irons and Lana Lang being used sporadicallyDC’s live-action TV show still finds ways to introduce exciting characters during its final season. I’m glad we got someone like Jimmy Olsen to show up in Season 4.
Olsen Superman and Lois the premiere allowed me to realize that, despite this being the last season of the Superman series, important characters can still debut. Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor will finally get to shine in season 4consolidating himself as the best villain in the series. Season 4 also featured Doomsday in a key role early on, with Luthor having some henchmen also impact the plot in some episodes. However, the biggest villain in relation to Lex Luthor only debuted now in Superman and Lois Season 4, episode 8, and I really liked it.
Superman & Lois Season 4 Episode 8 Looks to Reveal Its Own Version of Brainiac
The character was teased in previous episodes
Milton is a mysterious character in Superman and Lois season 4. The villain was responsible for some important events throughout the season, like building the box that could contain Superman’s heart or creating the sun-powered red poles that allowed Lex Luthor and Clark Kent to have a fair fight. After being teased for several episodes Superman and Lois Season 4, Episode 8 finally saw Milton appear on screen. The character is played by RiverdaleNikolai Witschl. Based on his name, experience, and knowledge of DC Comics, I believe Milton is Brainiac.
In the comics, Milton Fine is one of the versions of Brainiac. Superman and Lois was previously a bit overblown with teases that the character was the series’ version of the iconic DC villain, as Amanda McCoy said Milton was a “brain” for creating the box that could contain Superman’s heart. Milton quickly proved to be a huge asset to the TV show from the first moment he appeared on screen. His intelligence was exposed when the character managed to trick Steel and Starlight and later hack their suits for Lex Luthor.
Why it makes sense that Superman and Lois’ Brainiac is so different
The DC series has a refreshing villain streak
While Milton is apparently as smart as I would expect Brainiac to be in the DC series, we have no indication at this time that this version of the character will be revealed as not being human sooner. Superman and Lois ends. Talking to ComicBook.com, Superman and Lois executive producer Brent Fletcher even pointed the other way, revealing that the DC series’ version of Brainiac is “a completely different version of this guy.” Fletcher also commented on how Superman and Lois tends to do this with his villains, and I think this tendency is great.

Superman and Lois“The main villains were refreshing to see, as there’s an interesting mix between original characters and new takes on established DC players. My favorite villain-turned-hero from the series, Tal-Rho, was created specifically to Superman and Lois. The show’s version of Bizarro ended up becoming Doomsday.
Ally Allston was a very different version of DC Comics’ Parasite. Finally, Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor is more of a physical threat and a frightening take on Lex than virtually all of the live-action versions of Luthor. Having a human Brainiac fits into this refreshing trend and brings something new to the table.
I’m so excited to see more of Brainiac from Superman and Lois before the show ends
There are still two more episodes to go
Whether he’s a comic book-accurate Brainiac with green skin and all or remains human, I hope we get to see more of Milton sooner Superman and Lois season 4 ends. In a single episode, Milton has already proven himself to be a dynamic and intelligent villain like no other. As Lex Luthor plans to eliminate Superman and his two sons, he will need Milton’s help to ensure everything goes according to plan. Milton was the one who hacked Steel’s armor and turned it into Lex’s classic battle suit.
I hope the character returns at least in the next episode of the DC series to help Lex Luthor test the suit in his first time with it. Interestingly, Milton didn’t respond well to Amanda’s orders in Superman and Lois season 4, episode 8. I think there’s a chance that the character could have some ulterior motives and a full reveal of Brainiac that makes him a major villain for the series finale would be a welcome surprise. That said, I think it’s more likely that Milton will remain as is, which is good enough to Superman and Lois.
Superman and Loisthe Arrowverse’s seventh spinoff series, will take the titular characters from Metropolis to Smallville. The CW series is set after the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, which saw the collapse of the multiverse and the merging of worlds into what is now Earth Prime. Superman and Lois sees Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) dealing with all the pressures of their jobs, as well as being parents to two teenage children. Lois and Clark are no strangers to the Arrowverse, with Hoechlin’s Superman having been introduced way back when. Supergirl season 2. Meanwhile, Tulloch’s Lois made her debut in 2018’s “Elseworlds” crossover. The pair are joined by a growing cast of characters that includes a new iteration of Lana Lang.
