Kim Plath’s kids are growing up, but that doesn’t mean she’s letting them take the lead Welcome to Plathville
. Kim and her ex-husband, Barry Plath, are parents to nine children who they raised in an extremely religious family. The conservative family avoided sugar, television and anything considered immoral. Plath’s children were homeschooled, which gave them little exposure to views other than Kim’s. This left children with lasting problems that followed them into adulthood.
After her separation from Barry in Welcome to Plathville Season 4, Kim underwent a transformation. She relaxed her parenting, started wearing more revealing clothes, and started dating again. I’m convinced that Kim’s transformation was an attempt to stay in the spotlight while her children branched out and developed their own lives. Kim is working to repair her relationship with her children, but she won’t admit that the damage she inflicted is her faulta quality that I don’t believe will improve in season 7.
Kim has been criticized for many flaws
Your parenting style caused you to become distant from your children
Kim was never popular with the public due to her critical and unyielding attitude. Welcome to Plathville’s the first few seasons showed Kim’s estrangement from her older children due to his strict parenting style. His daughter, Moriah Plath, was the first to rebel. When Kim didn’t approve of Moriah’s choices, Moriah moved out of the family home when she was a teenager. Although Moriah and Kim are once again close, I’m convinced that Kim’s unreasonable rules are what drove Moriah apart in the first place.
Kim’s eldest son, Ethan Plath, wasn’t shy about airing his grievances with Kim. Ethan insists that his homeschooling left him at a disadvantage compared to his peers. Kim’s Questionable Resume Didn’t Adequately Prepare Her Children for the Adult World. After Ethan married his wife, Olivia Plath, Kim’s interference in the marriage led him to cut off all contact with her. Kim and Ethan are now on speaking terms, but the damage she did to Ethan’s marriage caused his eventual divorce from Olivia.
While it’s great that Kim is evolving, her kids are left picking up the pieces of Kim’s decisions.
Following her split from Barry, Kim moved out of the family home and left her daughter, Lydia Plath, in charge of homeschooling her younger siblings. This was incredibly unfair to both Lydia and the children. Kim abandoned her responsibilities when she got tired of them. She then abandoned the conservative lifestyle she had imposed on her children for so many years. While it’s great that Kim is evolving, her kids are left picking up the pieces of Kim’s decisions.
It’s obvious that Kim loves the spotlight
She makes it all about her
Kim has always loved the attention she gets from starring Welcome to Plathville. She was the driving force behind the family’s decision to appear on television, despite Kim’s tight control over her own children’s access to television. Kim knew viewers would be fascinated by her family’s unique lifestyle. She created drama with Olivia by refusing to have calm conversations and instead putting on a big show for the cameras. Kim Keeps Making It All About Her even after Ethan and Olivia’s divorce, focusing on the ways Olivia wronged her.
During her divorce from Barry, Kim tried to play the victim. I’m convinced she thought viewers would side with herbut surprisingly, Barry received a more favorable edit. Kim seems bothered by Barry’s calm, rational demeanor and tries to find ways to get under his skin. In Welcome to Plathville in season 6, Barry met Kim’s boyfriend Ken Palmer face to face for the first time. Kim increased her anticipation for the meeting, as if she expected them to fight over her. To his disappointment, the men were cordial and respectful.
Kim’s Potential Season 7 Storylines
Will Kim get married again?
Kim’s relationship with Ken could play a bigger role in Season 7. Kim has already hinted that an engagement could be in her futuredespite their divorce not yet being finalized. Kim may be rushing her relationship with Ken because of her desire to stay in the spotlight. She knows that as her children grow up, she risks losing her central role on the show. I believe Kim sees her relationship with Ken as a way to keep all the attention on her.
The finalization of Kim and Barry’s divorce could also be an important part of Season 7. Although they separated more than two years ago, the legal dissolution of their marriage is hampered by their property and disagreements over custody of their minor children. Kim and Barry had minimal interaction during season 6But as they have officially filed divorce papers, tension between the former couple could rise.

Now that Kim’s adult children have lives and relationships of their own, Welcome to Plathville it no longer revolves around her. I believe Kim embarked on her spiritual evolution as a way to keep viewers interested in her. However, it is hypocritical of her to avoid the lifestyle she once imposed on her children. If Kim wants to receive positive attention, she must admit the mistakes she has made in the past. Unfortunately, she’s unlikely to take responsibility for her faults and will instead continue to draw attention to herself in Season 7.
