Katrina Love is confirmed to return as Jessica Knight in NCIS Season 22, which is great, but I’m bummed about how that impacts a three-season storyline. Of course, these NCIS The season 21 finale didn’t have the most memorable fall. What it lacked in procedural excitement was made up for by the personal storyline that it kicked off. While Alden Parker was confronted with Lily’s identity, Knight was forced to make a life-changing decision when she was offered her dream that would take her away from the team she loved at Navy Yard – a compelling conundrum. For MCRT’s newest member.
While we all continue to wait for what happens with Parker, Knight’s fate in DC has already been confirmed before NCIS Season 22 even premiered. As revealed by the official marketing materials for the upcoming return of the police procedural, Law is not leaving the CBS series. As someone who has followed the matter since the idea that she was leaving began in May, I have been looking for all kinds of clues to understand what is next for her. Lo and behold, my hand was right: Knight will remain with MCRT in NCIS Season 22. However, it has a downside.
NCIS Season 22 Fate of Katrina Lee Makes Palmer and Knight’s Split Explode
Knight will return to MCRT
Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that Knight will continue to be a part of Parker’s MCRT team. After so many exits in the last few seasons, we need some kind of stability NCIS. Given that the reruns of the workshops have always been a part of any long-running show, including the CBS hit, it would still be a shame if we lost Nate; She is a great addition to the show and Law is fantastic in the role. That said, I can’t help but cringe when I think about how Knight’s fake outing impacted her relationship with Jimmy Palmer.

The couple began dating in season 19 – not long after Law officially joined the show and on the heels of Mark Harmon leaving. NCIS. After a series of slow-burn and near-romances in the series, Knight and Palmer’s attraction was quick and easy. So it was heartbreaking when they were essentially forced to break into these NCIS Season 21 finale. Despite this, I was relieved that we weren’t going to be subjected to the painful aftermath of their split because Nate was gone. Now that she’s coming back, I can argue that the break-up plot was totally useless.
Palmer & Knight’s break-up creates an unnecessary problem for NCIS Season 22
NCIS Season 22 will deal with the couple’s post-split dynamic
While NCIS It is not a romantic show, it has several love stories during its run. Tony DiNozzo Jr. and Ziva David’s will-they/won’t-they dynamic has been wildly popular—so much so that Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo star in a new spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva on Paramount+. Apart from them, there were also other in-office pairings in the procedural. Admittedly, none of them really worked out, but we’ve never seen the aftermath of it because, typically, one character is leaving.
It’s extra frustrating because Knight and Palmer is the first NCIS Couple to engage in a proper romance.
This was initially the case with Palmer and Knight’s situation. Law’s impending return in NCIS Season 22, however, will subject us to the awkwardness of their post-split office dynamic. Since the couple only broke up because she was supposed to leave for Camp Pendleton, seeing her back feels like all the heartbreak, not to mention the pressure of their impending reunion is wasted. It’s extra frustrating because Knight and Palmer is the first NCIS Couple to engage in a proper romance. Instead of focusing on the work, the team will also have to deal with its impact.
Will Palmer & Knight still get together on NCIS?
It’s safe to say that Palmer & Knight will rekindle their romance
Considering everything that led to their split, I’m pretty sure Nate and Palmer will find their way back to each other. For what it’s worth, I always thought that breaking up just because she had to move away from the Navy Yard was such an absurd idea. In this day and age of technology, it would be quite easy to do a long distance setup. Granted it’s not ideal, but it’s certainly doable.

Somehow, this adds to my frustrations about this completely fake outing for Nate. It creates so many unnecessary issues for NCIS. I understand that the writers want to shake things up for the couple, but there are other ways to do it without them going through a break. Now, instead of exploring other aspects of their relationships, NCIS Season 22 will have to devote time to building their dynamic.
